Discussion: New York GOPer: Something About Amtrak Derailment ‘Does Smell Very Fishy’

Discussion for article #236729

He was going almost twice the speed limit. And the reason? Because you GOP’ers don’t want to raise taxes on the Koch Brothers to fix our infrastructure!

with recent bomb train explosions and pipeline leaks, why have we not heard concern from the Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials subcommittee before? Cuz this time it is spelled AMTRAK, an intoxicant to the GOP like shit is to flys.

Oh Your God!
These fucking Republicans have NO SHAME. They are willing to exploit ANYTHING to fleece the “conspiracy nuts” rubes in their fundraising schemes!
Holy Shit!

Typical GOP - looking for a conspiracy to, in their small minds, blame- they hope Obama- rather than assume personal responsibility for contributing to this disaster by continually shortchanging the American people by denying funds to rehabilitate our aging infrastructure (and thereby creating jobs, by the way) while continually propping up the billionaires who feather their own nests!

“Is it very fishy,” Mr. Zeldin repeated again for the 10,771st time. “And I mean Gay Agenda fishy.”

This backbencher whom no one has heard of on a committee no one’s heard of because it’s probably done nothing of use is trying make his bones a la Darrell Issa. I would rely on what the NTSB turns up, and so far they’ve been pretty close mouthed about it being the engineer’s fault and In fact they said he’s been"extremely cooperative." But what’s his name is trying to make into his moment.

He got word there was a a cargo shipment of salmon which fell out of the train and still sits on the tracks.

I think the host was the inspiration for the phrase “a face for radio.”

Dude could have phrased it better, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions about the train wreck. Most apply to the engineer, who has no apparent recall. Question: who was driving the train, then?

This is just insanity. The crew failed to slow down to the speed limit for a curve. It was human error. Nothing fishy about that.

More regulation of railroads, including mandatory train control systems, would have limited the damage done by inattentive humans.

Who is it that is always railing against regulations?

I didn’t even know we had a representative Lee Zeldin. By God, this country is blessed!

I see he is on the committee that deals with pipelines, hazardous materials also. I hope he is looking into the pipeline spill in California that is putting hundreds of thousands of a hazardous material into the Pacific Ocean. Don’t just go after the union train driver, go after the Big Oil company as well.

Blasphemy! Union members are all guilty of something. Big Oil is as pure as freshly fallen snow. And whiter too! /s
