Discussion: New York Attorney General: No Backing Down On Trump Lawsuit

It seems that a Trump defense always depends on pointing to misdeeds of Clinton… When is the press going to get wise of this and stop parroting these (mostly baseless) claims verbatim. At least they could say they are disputed. Where is the free press today?

The old “Other people commit crimes too” defense. Of course in this case, it isn’t true, but even if it were, so what?

The best part? No pardon powers here…(yes, I’m aware this is a civil action.) Trump really does hire only “the best people,” especially his crack legal team.

When all is said and done, Barbara Underwood will be one of the top 5 MVPs for the good guys in this story. She has single-handedly set in motion 4 potential legal actions that may result in criminal charges against Trump AND HIS FAMILY AND HIS FAMILY BUSINESS!! She has made referrals to the NYAG criminal division, IRS, FEC, her own civil complaint and it has prompted the Manhattan DA to get active.

There is an issue in that AFAIK, if the person is pardoned for federal crimes, they can’t be charged in New York under double jeopardy. There is a move to change that law, which everyone in NY should support,

That’s the way it should work, Trump wasn’t satisfied being a scam artist and criminal he had to take it to the next level and look at what it got him. Financial ruin and disgrace for himself and his family. Hopefully the state charges for his children shut him up.

After the dust has settled, perhaps Donnie can troll Hillary from his new home under the bridge.

Recording and broadcasting all of the attempts to obstruct justice FOR Trump by Trump.

No–Federal crimes are tried in Federal courts.
Crimes committed within a jurisdiction are tried in that jurisdiction’s court.
Trump and his cabal are not being subjected to double jeopardy.

For someone who is so perfectly innocent, did not engage in collusion, obstruction of justice, tax evasion, or any other crimes, Donnie sure does get his shorts in a bunch when accused. One might conclude, um, er,…well, you know…

This is barely the press. It’s the AP. Both siderism to the nth degree.

As I recall, the NYAG was also virulently anti-Son of Sam, and anti-Bernie Madoff.

It’s almost as if they have something against crime…

how about the grabber hotel?

ETA: That was supposed to be graybar hotel but auto correct (JFC do I hate it) changed it to grabber. How appropriate.

It shows how scared they are, and how weak of a defense they have that they are ALREADY at the “Pound on the Table” stage of a defense.

They got 'nuthin and they know it so it’s time to “Baffle them with Bullshit.”

Good luck with that strategy.

The suit seeks $2.8 million in restitution and the foundation’s disbandment.

Fines?

That foundation was just absurdly guilty of outrageous self-dealing. It’s the financial equivalent of robbing a bank, driving the getaway car into a tree, and coming to groggily as laughing cops haul you out of it. There’s just really not a lot you can say.

Political witch hunt or not, when you commit a crime, it is still a crime. I do not see a positive in giving a politician a pass.

Once is a mistake. More than once shows a pattern of misusing the funds of the foundation for self dealing. You can’t keep writing checks and when caught go whoops. Just stop doing it.
