FIFY!
OT but nice:
I donât love the framing. âSome Democrats Burnish Their Credentials By Taking Positionâ is unlikely to roust out the League of Women Voters or the AARP, let alone the 19-year-olds. I do love the actual facts though.
Iâm not sure this is the best rallying call for 2020. ICE ainât nice and for sure it should be under the microsope, and under discussion during the midterms, but as a call to arms to get out every possible vote, not just the base, I think not.
Democrats canât rely on preaching to the choir in the environment weâre in. The numbers speak for themselves.
Iâve been thinking of contacting Lalo Alcaraz and asking if he would consider redrawing this, replacing the mallet with a magnifying glass and tagging it âDissolve ICE.â
ETA: I sent him a message. Will report what he says.
Cool!
I am back from the local Families Belong Together event. There were numerous signs (but only a wee fraction of all of the signs) that called for abolishing ICE.
good, even some ICE agents say it needs to be abolished because all its reputation has done is make it harder to reinforce the law properly because people donât trust them
Weâre just not very good at politics, are we? Of course ICE should be abolished. No question. But it shouldnât be a ârallying cry.â Abolishing child separation should be the rallying cry.
Excuse me - then why arenât you out there with a sign that says that.
These people are doing our jobs for us and this armchair quarterbacking is stupid from a bunch of people sitting on their asses.

Abolish jack-booted thugs.
Besides its reputation, which I honestly donât know anything about, itâs built wrong. Itâs serving two masters â one devoted to on-going national security, and the other about a literal wall, a âfrontâ in WWII parlance, a defensive perimeter.
Two very different operations with very different procedures that should not be mixed, in my opinion : - )
Thatâs an unusually irrelevant point. This piece is about Dem politicians, not grassroots protesters. You may think that we have a fantastic team of on-message electeds who can be trusted to win everything without input from commenters like you and me weighing in to shape the narrative , but I donât.
Children in prison, then sent to court with no lawyer. Franz Kafka could not have written this narrative.
Yes, âabolish ICEâ is not a good litmus test but the part at the end of the article is basically describing moving the Overton window, which is useful.
There are always going to be federal employees enforcing immigration and customs regulations. Adding further of enforcement from other aspects of policy by forming ICE in '03 exacerbated problems but Trump making it very clear that the extremists within are âoff the leash,â it was basically a campaign promise.
Itâs only what the associated press spinsâŚsounds kinda gaslightableâŚfor both sides. âŚI cannot predict 2020 nor can the writer of this article. Click baitâŚ
All the opponents of the recalcitrant candidates have to do is run ads showing how ICE has been operating over the last year or so. Show all the ICE beatings and ICE separations and interview those agents that have left the organization due to its arrogance and radicalization.
Close each commercial with 'This isnât our America. Itâs not yours either, Vote Democratic (or âfor xxxxâ).
tell us the story, Sanni - Tell us what you saw and where you wereâŚ
I donât view âabolish iceâ as a rallying cry. It feels like unfocused anger that will lose more people than it will gain.
Similar to shouting âabolish police!â because of police brutality.
