It’s not really a reverse gender divide. As usual (recently in the US at least) the women are in favor of the sane candidate, the men are in favor of the incompetent loon.

This represents a big turnaround for Ossoff from the last poll from this pollster. Where this poll and SUSA align is that Ossoff is winning Indies and unaffiliated voters by strong margins. So even if Handel gets her % of GOP voters up, she might still lose. The other point is that Ossoff did get a fair number of GOP net crossovers in round 1. Those voters seem to be sticking with him for round 2. One trend that Wasserman and others have noted is that in the special elections to date, the Dem candidate is getting a higher percentage of HRC voters than the GOP candidate is of Trump voters. If that trend holds and Ossoff cashes in on unaffiliated/Indies and new/infrequent voters, he can win. Not predicting anything yet other than it will be close, but I find the trend agreeable to this point.

The only thing that matters is turnout. Please, Trump, keep pissing off D’s and Independents.

This poll isn’t very good…

It’s hard to get good numbers in a small state race like this, which is why the margin for error is 4.4%. The Dems need to keep driving turnout, especially in light of doing 10 points better than they should have in Montana. Flipping these seats early will scare the shit out of Republicans leading into 2018, and that wall between Trump and public opinion will erode quickly.

The DNC should get President Obama, Joe Biden and Hillary to campaign for Ossoff. THey should not ignore this important race.

the Dem candidate is getting a higher percentage of HRC voters than the GOP candidate is of Trump voters.

That’s something worth following (a look into the future). Don’t know if you have any idea, but did Ossoff finally move into the district he’s running in? I know he grew up there but it could be an open invitation to a Republican attack, a talking point that would stick.

The men in question here are also attracted to any politician willing to subvert women’s control over their own lives and bodies so it’s no surprise that Handel’s their gal.

Whether or not Dems are winning these special elections in highly gerrymandered districts (or, in the case of Montana, where the GOP intentionally biased the election by refusing to hold the election by mail) it’s the swing towards the Dems in this elections that should scare the shit out of the GOP.

In the Kansas special election to fill Pompeo’s vacated seat, the 'pub won by less than 7 points in a district that Pompeo won by 31 points last November. That’s a yuge swing!

No. IMHO, that just looks desperate. The DCCC, however, needs to step up their game to do whatever is necessary to support these Dem candidates whether with financing, access to detailed voter data, support for the local Dem party, ground game, etc.

@darcy - I don’t think he moved but the 'pubs have been hitting him with that since before the primary. He’s remained true to his position that he’s temporarily outside the district because he’s with his girlfriend who is going to med school.

This tight race will be sure to bring out the CambridgAnalytica microtargeters and axis hackers. Hope more are seen this time.

Yea, I remember the details as well and thought why not just get a one bedroom place in his district. Maybe I’m overthinking it but it’s the kind of shit (free punch in the face) that makes me mad at 'D’s. A really simple solution and if the 'pubs cry whatever, just handle it. You know, like I GREW UP HERE, BORN AND RAISED HERE!

Turns out driving the country off a cliff is like driving Dems to the polls.

I agree with you. But I also think that to change how things happen in DC you have to get a win in an unexpected place. You need a road win. A win by Ossoff isn’t necessary to winning the fall races or the 2018 races, but an Ossoff win probably kills the AHCA for this summer and accelerates GOP willingness to break from Trump and cooperate with Dems on #trumprussia. At minimum it will limit their willingness to obstruct the inquiry for Trump’s benefit.

Winning this would be great, so would winning the WH of course, but it’s meaningless if we get the same moderate DNC Democrat. Clinton is letting loose with criticism of the DNC now, and she’s right but she and her generation need to move to a supporting role. Love this quote from the article:
“This is a partywide failure, and it will require more than just banishing the Clintons from politics,” is how Nathan Robinson, the editor of Current Affairs puts it. “If the Democrats are to have a future, they must offer something better, more honest, and more inspiring.”

Ossoff, might just be one of those, hope he is, and hope he wins.

No, he needs Bernie to campaign for him.

One thing for certain the Party lost the election, and Clinton is one hell of a chunk of that Party. Say what she may she lost that election. Party be damed we need someone who can win.
