somewhat relevant
Though I’ve said the same thing about this year, next year is going to say a lot about this timeline.
Well , time to open the debtor prisons.
A growth industry for sure.
You just stand in slack jawed amazement watching people inflicting the pain on themselves.
What did you think was going to happen when you elected Bevin?
States like this and Kansas prove that Republicans can’t govern
You got to sleep in the bed you make. Stupid decisions rarely lead to good outcomes. Oh well, some lessons are only learned the hard way. Pity.
“We’re Christians here, We care about our fellow humans. We’re gonna take away their healthcare for their own good. Believe me, they’re gonna thank us for this someday…”
I am hoping they thank them by voting 'em out of office. But many will still cut off their noses to spite their faces, I am afraid.
The money quote:
“I’m really having a problem with the people that don’t want to work”
I don’t care if it kills me, as long as the others [translation: dark skinned folks] don’t get anything I’m good with it.
Good read on the topic: Strangers in Their Own Land: Anger and Mourning on the American Right
Judge Smails logic: There’s a lot of…well, badness in the world today. I see it in court every day. I’ve sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. I didn’t want to do it- I felt I owed it to them.
If Trump had simply signed a bill renaming ACA to Trumpcare the good people of KY would’ve hailed him as a hero and a savior.
Yup.
Just 90,000?
And you call yourselves conservative?
which is dumb as dog shit since KY is like 90% white…they;re going to suffer more than anyone else.
Of course, I know from experience (talking with Trumpstans in my family) this never occurs to them, they assume that by being white they’re exempt from this stuff.
Just as China had to eventually confront the excesses of the cultural revolution, the excesses of the American right will eventually be called into question. Kentucky’s cultural revolution has involved an ideology-driven dismantling of its healthcare systems. I suspect that the next decade will involve putting safeguards in place to keep the policy stick out of the hands of such incompetents, but many people have already been hurt by Bevin and his gang.
Apparently, the old* adage “You can’t have your cake & eat it, too” never made it out to Whitley County.
*yes, I know.
Maybe it’s a shit hole state with lots shit houses so it does not matter.
90,000 is what the state of Kentucky admits to – the chances that that number is much higher are probably pretty good.
Well I saw Bevin on the TV and he said in spite of having insurance his state was obese, diabetic and drug addicted so obviously having Medicaid was not working
Yes he actually said that
Criminelly, you really can’t make this stuff up, can you???
The trickle down effects I am willing to bet, will remove any money they think they are recouping.
No secret little joys or schadenfreude here - people are going to die because the men they elected to lead them lied their asses off, and folks bought it hook, line, and sinker.
Hopefully the purposelessness of their self-sacrifice is not lost on the rest of the country (spoilers: it probably will be).
All those who keep saying there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans, pay attention to this.
