The daughter-in-law seems (deliberately or otherwise) to misunderstand the notion of flight risk as being about whether Bundy will leave the country. It’s about whether he would show up peacefully for his next court date, and I’m pretty sure on that one Slim left town long ago.

It’s hard to argue that he should be released on his own recognizance when he aggressively denies the authority of the Federal Government to try him, and has shown a willingness to threaten Federal officers with firearms.

Wrong. He was a danger this entire time. The Feds simply waited until he was stupidly lured onto an airplane and flew into a secured area where he would not be armed nor surrounded by armed goons.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see his goons try something while he is being transferred between court and jail. I know it doesn’t make sense, but neither does any of the Bundy gang’s moves wrt the Feds.

The U.S. attorney’s memo supporting pretrial detention is a thing of beauty -all 34 pages of it. It states:
“Bundy is lawless and violent. He does not recognize federal courts – claiming
they are illegitimate – does not recognize federal law, refuses to obey federal court
orders, has already used force and violence against federal law enforcement officers
while they were enforcing federal court orders, nearly causing catastrophic loss of
life or injury to others. He has pledged to do so again in the future to keep federal
law enforcement officers from enforcing the law against him.”
