Discussion for article #226719
The dumbing down continues. Dog forbid that students discuss issues. There are rote answers for standardized tests to memorize, after all.
First rule of Fight Club…
Current Events in schools gave way long ago to creationist/revisionist history. Most of these municipalities/school districts are creature of the sick process of preying on the disadvantaged for profit, police brutality, underfunding education and tax breaks for the powerful.
Probably placating the Racists to maintain the status quo. God forbid we actually educate children.
“An event of this magnitude shouldn’t be swept under the rug,” one district parent, Glenn Beckmann, told the Post-Dispatch.”
As Malcolm X described in his famous 1964 speech, it is going to be the ballot or the bullet. Why shy away from a teachable moment?
have mixed feelings here There should be dialog of some sort - but maybe not in every class -
-
the right teacher - well informed and with an ability to lead a difficult discussion - would be able to manage a healthy and highly needed discussion. Have seen a few of these.
-
a teacher who is not very comfortable outside of their subject matter & unfamiliar with the details & not equipped keep the discussion from wandering out of control - may find it difficult to lead a class through this topic. This does not make them a bad teacher.
Would think that some school will try to handle this in an assembly session with some professionals who may be able to frame out a productive dialog.
"Move on along. Nothing to see here . . . "
When are these fascist sonsofbitches gonna understand that the whole point of civil disobedience is identifying an arbitrary and senseless rule imposed by “authority” that can be defied? These stupid bastards just can’t set aside their own privilege.
What if the teacher were spouting off Faux racism to the class? Would your opinion change?
Uninformed question - if any teacher spouted off racist nonsense Faux or not they would be fired. At least so where I live.
