Discussion: NC Republicans: HB2 Backlash Was Just Attempt By Dems To Win Guv Race!

So Chorlette city council rolled over and played dead to please the christianist’s
Alas I fear that this will be the pattern for the next 4 years or more the d’s will play dead after a little kabuki theatre and the R’s will be able to enshrine bigotry and ignorance into the law with the d’s quiet acquiescence.
So this is suppose to be seen as a “victory”?
Chorlette passed this law to protect against prejudice and now that protection is gone.
But all hail the victory of the D’s giving the bigots what they want.

McRory gets smaller and smaller…he’ll always be the worst governor NC has had.

As I noted in the earlier discussion on this topic today:

“Governor McCrory has always publicly advocated a repeal of the overreaching Charlotte ordinance. But those efforts were always blocked by Jennifer Roberts, Roy Cooper and other Democratic activists,”

Complete and utter bullshit.

North Carolina is essentially a Dillon’s Rule state, so municipalities only have powers expressly granted to them by the state. Charlotte has been unable to enforce their ordinance since HB 2 was passed, anyway.

The big tell will be how many municipalities follow suit and pass their own ordinances, now. At least two of my friends on Durham City Council have indicated a willingness to head in that direction. Only need 2 more to pass it.

They couldn’t possibly done with a sense of humanity and dignity for ALL NC’s citizenry.

Bunch of fear-mongering idiots whining that their newest wedge issue backfired on them and it’s NOT FAIR!

steve. can’t you get this guy to go away? he is way beyond tiresome. he’s delusional as hell too. he should be on the trump team making mischief.

Trump’s people have already promised him a job.

If the state follows through and repeals HB2 now, in a sense restoring the status quo before Charlotte enacted their non-discrim ordinance, what will the response be of the NBA, PayPal and other boycotters? The status quo is not truly restored because the state is now on record as saying they’re OK with LGBT discrimination and will enact another HB2 if any municipality dares pass a non-discrim ordinance similar to Charlotte’s.

Excellent question.

Thanks - I would certainly think the recent brazen shenanigans of the NC GOP would unify enough Dems to come out a vote in 2017.
