Well, considering that pedophilia is a crime regardless of what else you call it, and considering an employer can certainly use criminal behavior as grounds for dismissal, I’m here to let the knuckle dragger know that prohibiting discrimination based on orientation is safe ground for even a wacko like him.
However, sadism and masochism is not a crime between consenting adults, and therefore that orientation should not be used as a basis for discrimination. You wouldn’t want to invoke the wrath of the Young Republicans who frequent nudie dominatrix bars, now would you?
Because it sounds manly-mannish and folksy; you know, just one of the guys, inverse pretentiousness. Years ago, in the mid 80s, when I worked for the BLM in the California Desert, I was an environmental compliance officer on a wind energy site and a whole lot of the construction workers had these sorts of pithy, monosyllabic, testosterony nicknames. There was a “Biff”, a “Slim”, a “Buck”, like your aforementioned, but the most unusual name was upon a fellow named “Ty Rock”. I’m not making this up. That was his name. I often wondered if he had his named changed at a whim.
I have to admit, and this is before I’d seen “Back to the Future”, that I was personally very fond of Biff. And I admitted this, unfortunately, to my best friend, whereupon the appellation stuck to me and to this day, much to my chagrin, a few of my friends still call me that.
Having said that. I would find it extremely difficult to vote for a politician, even a progressive, who insisted on using his nickname on the ballot and I thought none the better of “Jimmy” Carter either; but I did vote for him.

Comparing homosexuality to bestiality or pedophilia is common. What you never see, however, is someone comparing bestiality or pedophilia to homosexuality.

Pedophilia is a term which is widely misunderstood and/or misapplied.
Technically, pedophilia (a sexual preference for children) is not a crime unless acted upon. For example, some people have a sexual preference for children but do not act upon it; therefore, while they may experience internal conflict, they have not committed a crime. As well, not all sexual crimes against children reflect a sexual preference for children, but people who commit those crimes are often inappropriately labeled pedophiles.
Why is this important?
We don’t know how to change someone’s sexual preference. Consider, for example, someone trying to change your sexual preference, how would you likely respond? So when we have a true pedophile who has had a history of difficulty controlling acting out that preference we often find we have to resort to civil confinement to keep them and society safe, for lack of better solutions.
On the other hand we can effectively treat most other roots of sexual abuse that commonly trigger sexual crimes.
