Law enforcement could claim the suspect’s appearance qualified as probable cause, but that in itself could lead to the death of the law. Would the law stand up to a challenge if the man below is subject to arrest every time he entered a ladies room in North Carolina – not by choice, but as commanded by the law?

Pedophiles aren’t deterred by long - even life - sentences, or the likelihood of being murdered in prison. However, I’m sure the NC law will easily deter them and other sexual predators from going into the wrong rest room, thereby protecting women until they come out and can be attacked elsewhere.
There’s nothing more bizarre in public life than the whacko stories legislators come up with to justify gay bashing. Do they really think they can write a bathroom law with harsher sanctions than the actual sexual predation law they’re trying to keep people from violating? If it weren’t so pathetic, it would be hilarious.
The part that’s not hilarious is that even though it’s 2016, NC voters keep electing incompetent bigots.

The only way to enforce this would be to have new IDs issued to everyone with a bar code that includes sex at birth and a pin number. This would require scanners at the entrance to every bathroom to make sure you are of the right sex before the door opens.
Sigh.
I really think the intent is to make trans men vulnerable in the mens room to homophobic predators.
Does making NC straight involve removing all those curves and bends on I95?

It’s interesting that he worked for Jesse Helms as David Broder referred to him as “the last racist politician”. Even Strom Thurmond and George Wallace for the most part asked for contrition.
Recently I watched the HBO documentary about Robert Mapplethorpe. There was a clip of Helms fulminating about his obscene photos and federal funding for the arts. He actually took the photos and offered them to the other senators on the floor to see. A bizarre sight.
