MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
Oh I think of HIM as JS but it makes sense.
What did Scarborough say about it?
OK, folks, media companies are justifiably reluctant to engage in prior restraint of political advertising. They will scan for blatant horrors, but the dogwhistles usually get benefit of the doubt, and they don’t fact check in real time. Which, you wouldn’t want them doing to Dem ads. We can’t be better than the right if we aren’t actually, ya know, better.
That ad had already been fact-checked to death and shown to be utter, contemptible bullshit. Absolutely none of it was true. And NBC knew it.
The truth is NBCUniversal’s contemporary Mission Statement, purloined from the title of an iconic Frank Zappa album, is “We’re only in it for the money.”
Whatever, guys. NBC really is an embarrassment
CBS also, who hired these guys, each of them shits in their own way, and all were fired recently because of sexual harassment charges against them: Charlie Rose, Les (“trump’s good for CBS ratings”) Moonves, and Jeff Fager, 60 Minutes producer.
Not good, NBC, harm already done. If we didn’t see them for what they are by their white male domnance, we should now.
I saw what I am convinced was a turd on the sidewalk the other day. I mentioned to Miss Kitty someone hadn’t picked up after their dog. She said “You need to look again, that’s a pair of pants.”
Upon further review she was correct.
‘INSENSITIVE’??? No, it was downright RACIST, BIGOTED, Nationalistic CRAP. I saw it and almost broke the TV. …and this was all at 4:30 am while I was trying to make coffee.
How about an INITIAL review of the ad instead of further review? Most sane human beings could’ve predicted there would be blowback.
These are people that employ Chuck Todd.
“Apology” not accepted.
Thankfully they’re putting Katy Tur on air frequently in Chuck Todd’s time slot…
I find her easier to watch (no reason).
Fox and Facebook have now pulled the ad. Facebook allows it on trump’s own page. It doesn’t need more air time. The publicity around the ad does the job and free. Didn’t donnie john do just this sort of thing in 2016? JFC Fox I understand is a WH mouthpiece but NBC should have learned this lesson by now.
Insensitive is hardly the word: mendacious and utterly lying.
NBC/Comcast is Donald’s birth network: Fox is only his adoptive network. It doesn’t do to forget that it was NBC that used all the dark arts of television----makeup, costumes, scripts, editing, music, a supporting cast, the whole celebrity/reality TV schtick—to transform Donald’s image from that of a crude, multiple-bankrupt, much-married, thuggish low-rent trust fund brat from Queens, into that of a decisive executive and brilliant businessman.
Just as with the outrageous Matt Lauer-hosted “foreign policy debate” in September of 2016, that was designed by sexual harasser Lauer and his very Republican-friendly boss Andy Lack to do maximum damage to Hillary Clinton while puffing up Donald’s image, NBC has handled this ad in a way that will get Donald the result he needs at the moment he needs it, while allowing the network to skate away from any responsibility for its atrocious content.
And by the way, when did “insensitive” become a synonym for “racist lie”? The very use of the word “insensitive” is a deliberate dog whistle to white Republican voters trained to believe that our whole problem is “political correctness.”
So does the DNC get a free 30 second spot in every market this aired in???
No, you’re thinking of the Fairness Doctrine. That was replaced with the “Screw You, I’ve Got Mine” doctrine under Reagan…
the network that brought you a bankrupt failed casino owner as a guy who could make rational decisions about firing people - yes
