Discussion for article #225907
Just as NBC wanted America to ignore its history of gay discrimination they would rather America hadnât noticed 60+ years of Israel cheer leading as their present management appears too local/regional to handle subjects a tad more complicated than NBCâs intellectually lagging, 2-dimensional domestic political coverage.
Horror is horror for witnesses as well as victims.
NBC now has Richard Engel and Martin Fletcher reporting from Israel and Gaza. Both reporters are Jewish. Both are excellent reporters. However, their reporting certainly provides a more favorable view of the Israeli perspective than the Palestinian.
Aman Mohyeldin was able to relate some of the civilian suffering and a perspective on IDF criminal actions that caused this carnage. Fletcherâs reporting included a report on a Palestinian tunnel and the fear it provoked for residents of an illegal Israeli settlement, notwithstanding that no Israeli civilian has been harmed by attacks emanating from these tunnels, during this campaign.
âLiberal mediaâ, indeed.
They re both jewish but as you said they are excellent reporters and I have not seen one report from either of them that has shown any favoritism. None that I have seen at all
He may need a break. I canât imagine how difficult it must be to cover this story
no worries⌠msnbc has just given his minutes to an expanded segment to one of the rotating israeli netanyahu flacks who routinely appear with little or no pushback â even when the israeli ambassador to the u.s. misrepresents what âthe reporter in gazaâ has reported.
mohyeldin is a tremendous journalist.
The guy wants to take a break and spend time with his family. Must be the fault of the International Zionist Conspiracy.
Well⌠he reports for the Palestinians. Of course Israel wants him gone! So he is gone! Whatever the Israelis demand is what is supposed to be fed to US viewers - Israeli propaganda ! Disgusting people!
Or he wants to see his family.
Sort of like the disgraced politician who resigns to âspend more time with his familyâ.
Ayman Mohyeldin has provided a perspective that Engels and Fletcher do not. Therein, lies the distinction. Mohyeldinâs reporting is unusual in its nature because it is so seldom seen in the U.S. media. We need more of this, not less.
Canât say I blame him. One can only watch dead and dying children being pulled out of the rubble for so long.
I believe it is for âfamily reasons.â
