“Are you comfortable with using those same words to describe Vladimir Putin?” Todd asked. “That basically, you know, yeah, he’s a bad guy, but we’ve done some bad things too. Are you comfortable with that moral equivalency?”
“Again, I don’t accept that it’s a moral equivalency,” Pence said. “I really don’t.”
“You think he misspoke?” Todd asked.
"No, I truly believe—look. President Trump has been critical of American policy in the past and I expect he’s always going to continue to be candid with the American people," Pence replied.
Last cycle, Mike Pence was for a Syrian no-fly zone and his boss was against a Syrian no fly zone.
Both he and Trump are for the reintroduction of waterboarding detainees.
Though he says that he was against the Iraq war, Trump wanted to keep a sizable military force in Iraq. Trump blamed Obama for Isil’s creation, even the initial troop withdrawal was due to the previous Iraqi government refusing to grant amnesty to any remaining or arriving US troops (and there’s an Assange link to that).
To be fair, Pence wants to use a variation of waterboarding, one that proved to be an effective method for his puritanical ancestors in the recent past.
Does anyone here remember “We’re all Bozos on this bus” by Firesign Theater? Pence reminds me of an animatronic from the Future Fair. His tendency to completely buffalo past the point of any inquiry is unsettling and a little inhuman. He lies without any hint of discomfort. I’m not sure he passes the Turing test.
I keep wanting one of these program hosts to lean forward and say “THIS IS WORKER SPEAKING. HELLO.”
Why Can’t Trump ‘Say A Negative Thing’ About Putin
ISIS: We want to be treated the same way as Putin. We both want the same for US: total and painful destruction.
FOX: If ISIS were white, we would have made that case. You are out of luck.
Pence probably still hopes to become president if Republicans in Congress ever decide Trump has gone too far with “high crimes and misdemeanors”. A faint hope maybe, but it’s there.
Remember when American exceptionalism was a GOP litmus test? Remember when Obama was accused of hating America? Will the GOP slam Trump for insufficiently loving America, now that he has claimed the US is the moral equivalent of Putin’s Russia? Nope. Me either. On the plus side, we have all the evidence we need to conclude that the right does not care about American exceptionalism, executive orders, the debt, supposedly Christian values, etc…
