According to NBC, McCabe will officially remain at the FBI until mid-March, which is when he can retire with full benefits.

Flipping Donald the bird ? He is saying somethingā€¦

I guess this means Lynne Patton is up for a promotion.

I wouldnā€™t want to put up with this clownshow, either.

I hope heā€™s actually stepping down and not ā€œstepping downā€.

Heā€™ll walk away with full benefits. Get a higher paying job as a security consultant and write a book.

I know this canā€™t actually happen for conflict-of-interest reasons, but Iā€™d laugh myself stupid if he turned around and started working full-time for Bob Mueller :joy:

Look for Trump to tweet it isnā€™t fair for McCabe to resign yet stay on as an employee long enough to get full retirement benefits.

My gut tells me that this resignation is bad news for Trump and that McCabe, who is presumably a tough nut, is acting in accordance with a plan and not simply capitulating. Prima facie this is evidence of McCabe being ā€˜pushed outā€™ to obstruct/deter FBI inquiries into Trump & Co. Weā€™ll have to see what McCabe say about it in March, if anything. It seems quite likely that he will be in possession of facts having to do with the pressure that Trump and his mob have put him under.

Maybe he can tell us why Rancid Penis & Spice Boy stuck around for weeks after their resignationsā€¦

I think weā€™re at the point right now where, by default, any short-term news is bad news for Trump. Most of all, they just need a quiet week or three where things seem, above all else, stable.

Canā€™t wait for CNNā€™s paltry excuse for an Algonquin Roundtable starts to babble about ā€œheā€™s turned the corner, heā€™s pivoted, heā€™s finally acting presidentialā€ because he didnā€™t crap his pants while reading from the teleprompter tomorrow night.

I wish that there was something funny about this.

McCabeā€™s decision to step down comes as Trump has publicly criticized the deputy director for months, falsely claiming in tweets that Hillary Clinton gave McCabeā€™s wife, Jill McCabe, ā€œbig dollarsā€ for a Virginia state senate seat race in 2015.

Canā€™t McCabe sue T rump for libel and defamation over these false accusations? Arenā€™t these accusations evidence of the POTUS creating an unsafe and hostile work environment?

Putin must be feeling pretty good right now about his investments in the US Government.

i expect Mueller will want to talk to McCabe if he hasnā€™t already.

@erik_t As long he has an ā€œexit interviewā€ with Meuller on his way out.

Donā€™t sweat it. Every time Trump got good press in the past he ruined it within hours with another asinine and offensive tweet.

This is old news, reported on nationally before Christmas:

Andrew McCabe, the FBIā€™s deputy director who has been the target of Republican critics for more than a year, plans to retire in a few months when he becomes fully eligible for pension benefits, according to people familiar with the matter.
