Discussion for article #241095
Wow! Stunningly honest. Thank you, my former Representative, Nancy Pelosi! I miss you. I’m still proud I was able to cast my vote for you numerous times when I lived in San Francisco – you are a very good Representative and a great Leader.
Naa, Pelosi’s aim is pretty good, she doesn’t miss much
Well, she got through that without dropping any f-bombs, she didn’t directly insult his manhood or parentage, but you really have to think he just wasn’t that popular of a guy around the office, you know? Yeesh.
Oh, she will miss him if the Republicans are stupid enough to put Steve King or Louie Gohmert in the Speaker’s Chair!
Kind of an irrelevant, idiotic question. One of those times I wish she had reached over, smacked Tapper upside his head and told him to grow the fuck up.
Its going to be McCarthy. Neither King nor Gohmert carries the sort of juice required to be elected Speaker. None of the TPers do. Scalise is probably the closest they have, and he doesn’t want it. Same with Ryan.
People really need to let go of these nightmares that the TP is some uberpowerful politcal force taking over D.C. They aren’t. In fact, they just managed to cut off their own dicks by forcing Boehner to resign, but they are too stupid to realize that. The shutdown and defunding PP are out the window now, at least until January. More importantly, the path to running the House with Democratic support is going to receive a big boost…the Harsert Rule is officially dead now. And Boehner’s replacement (in all likelihood, McCarthy) is going to be giving a lot a latitude to work with Dems in order to get basic bills passed…much more so then Boehner, who was viewed as responsible for getting the TP elected, ever was.
I think it’s unlikely that any member of the House Freedom Caucus is actually stupid, but certainly a significant number them are either willful i-gnu-ramuses or routinely lying hippo-critters who in either species are purely political animals there consciously to make a living as tools of business and related interests thru their lobbyists.
I also think among the reasons Trump is doing so welling in polling among self-identified “conservatives” and likely GOP voters is that such a larger percentage of GOP Congressional critters are shallow performers, so despite his lack of public service history, Trump looks and sounds to them a lot like the folks they’re used to voting in. The second part of the attraction is that while they’re used to hearing this “conservative” ear porn from the particularly their House reps, they’ve never heard it from someone the mainstream media pays so much attention to, so they can’t help confusing Trump with what they imagine a smart person sounds like - which, of course, Trump fully understands.
These folks - and not just the Trump supporters but those of Car and Car when the two of them stumble out or get tossed aside – are going to be awfully disgruntled with the GOP way before next November . But, lucky for them, the DNC is likely to give them someone to hate in order to motivate them in order to GOTV. It won’t work to win the White House, but the GOP as an ongoing business operation doesn’t actually need the WH to keep on being profitable: they’ll do well enough with whoever, Rubio or Trump, plus whipping up the Hillary Hate, that they’ll keep control of the House and at least have enough Senate seats to screw up and even stop HRC nominations. Plus, they figure her for a Beltway Centrist, so she’ll give away lots of stuff just to get her nominees and a budget thru. It’s a fair bet.
Peter King will have an issue with that.
old CW song…
how can I miss you if you won’t go away?
Actually, it’s Dan Hicks.
It probably will be McCarthy because he’s there at number two. He’s also almost completely without any accomplishments and considered something of a dim bulb, read malleable. Nevertheless your predictions sound plausible.
She is way too diplomatic to say “I might when I see what kind of a nut job they replace him with.”
Wow, Jake Tapper is the ultimate “Concern Troll” isn’t he? I am… unimpressed.
“But uh yeah, I don’t know if I’ll miss him, but here one day, we just
work. We just work,” she said. “We barely have time for our close
friends and some of our close friends are across the aisle. But it
depends on what comes next.”
I guess even democrats resort to word salad on occasion.
Hey, check back with us after the Teabaggers force a default on the debt!
Well…Be that as it may, just to make sure he isn’t forgotten, Weeper Boehner will gift every member of the House and Senate with a “Boehner Baby”! It cries real unicorn tears.
Will do. You check back with us after Boehner with Pelosi’s help passes a CR to avoid a shutdown before he leaves office.
