Exactly. Because he is cooperating and the devices weren’t acquired in a raid, you know damn well that they were carefully cleansed prior to being turned over to Mueller. Prince is immersed in the world of mercenaries and intel-for-hire, and he has access to any secure data deletion tools and expertise that he would need.
Evil chuckle here
I am betting/hoping that Prince has outsmarted himself. Mueller has multiple independent sources for a bunch of prince’s communications. All the international stuff is covered by NSA (which is not good in the long run of the nation, but may be good for assuring that there is a long run). And some of it by Nader. And so forth. So unless prince has done a perfect job of sanitizing only those things that Mueller doesn’t otherwise have, he’s on the hook for obstruction and lying to the FBI in addition to his other offenses.
Special counsel Robert Mueller has obtained and is reviewing phones and a computer used by Erik Prince
He’d better be reviewing them. This sort of news is touted as a sign of how far-reaching Mueller’s investigation is, but the reality is that if this weren’t GOP folks being investigated, there would long ago have been massive, warrant-driven raids of every clown suspected of treasonable or illegal activities, including every server and device used by the NRA and the RNC in 2016. The rule that one law applies to the GOP and another to the rest of the country remains intact, if these reports are anything to go by.
Would like to see Nader’s evidence take this rightwing frat-boy mercenary down to the slammer. But since Prince is pretty rich, he can easily buy a pardon from Trump. You had best believe those things are for sale, and the price depends on what you can tell Mueller to get immunity for free. Behavioral economics is fun!
“All we will add is that much of the reporting and speculation about Mr. Prince in the media is inaccurate, and we are confident that when the investigators have finished their work, we will be able to put these distractions to the side.”
This is what is called the ‘bridging’ statement use in an attempt to turn away from the bad news and ‘spin’ the outcome. Key words are 'media" (always the bad guys) and ‘put these distractions to the side.’ I love that one.
The new definition of ‘distraction’ means that meeting with a close associate of Putin arranged by representatives of the UAE in one of the more remote parts of the world, the Seychelles, was just a coincidence.
“I had a business meeting with some guys from the Middle East, and that’s why I was in the Seychelles,” Prince told Fox. “And they said, ‘Hey, you should meet this other guy who’s some kind of fund manager we’ve done business with.’ So I had a beer with him, not even a vodka. And it lasted a few minutes and that’s it. It had nothing to do with the United States, with the U.S. government, with the election or with the Trump campaign or anything like that.”
That is not a ‘distraction.’ It is treason.
Is it wrong that I’m smiling?
See what a life of deception and crime can do to you?
Prince has denied that he was acting as a backchannel for the Trump transition team and described the meeting as impromptu.
