As every Trump lackey would say if the shoe was on the other foot, “The American people want to hear from the Special Counsel to come to their own conclusions about the lawlessness of President H. Clinton.”
Is that a rhetorical question?
No, it’s a question for God.
Zoom out and a scarcely credible landscape begins to reveal itself: the Special Counsel delivers a report that details (but declines to allege) grave obstruction of justice by the President; far from collapsing under the revelations, the GOP uses the moment to accelerate towards authoritarian control of government by neutralizing the House, the DOJ, and the FBI; Democrats crumble under the pressure and bet on a 2020 election in which they will face Republican party that knows that the rule of law does not apply to it. Didn’t see the country collapsing quite that quickly, I’ve got to say.
Not to be a buzzkill, but Galileo could weigh in on this assertion. Telling the truth about “big things” is inherently political. Climate Change, Effects of Tobbacco on health, Evolution, Even big bang cosmology. After all! “Shape of earth, views differ.”
I do not understand Mueller. Does he not think that what he says in private will become public?
Maybe he is worried about what his fellow Reubs on the committee will say while he is testifying. Really what he has to say is more important then any smear the Repubs give.
This has all been for naught if there are never ANY public hearings regarding the crimes of a sitting POTUS and his rigging of an American election with a hostile foreign power. At least 70% of the country is demanding answers and we deserve them before it’s too late to stop it from happening again. I’d very much like to give Mueller the benefit of the doubt here, but every time I’ve done that with a registered R, it just comes back to bite us in the ass. Rosenstein being a prime example of this. If Mueller doesn’t do the right thing, this dystopian nightmare may never end. Now get your ass in there and answer some questions Bob!
Always remember, Mueller is a rethuglican.
And once again the person people keep saying cares about the integrity of the DOJ is failing again.
But he was Lincoln, a very rare man.
The political part is how they handled everything with kid gloves, they bent over backwards every step of the way to give drump every and any benefit of the doubt, and from the looks of things they kept so far within any conceived lines that they ignored many paths of investigation.
Buzzkill.
I do not see this as a problem. I’m with you.
ETA By the way…it could have been Nancy’s “hands-off” air which made Mueller feel that this particular “political” problem could be dealt with. Because in the final analysis, Mueller laid out the obstruction angle for Congress.
We live in a time when telling the truth is somehow depicted as “political”.
Mueller owes it to the nation to testify in public. The time for his maintaining any airs of professional fastidiousness are over. We are at a seminal point in the history of this Republic and Mueller is obligated to bear witness to the truth.
So have a private setting. I’m not liking that option, but if it makes him feel better, so be it. Something tells me that what he says wouldn’t stay private for long.
Bernie ain’t goin’ for impeachment yet, either. This surprises me. He seems to agree in many ways with NDP. This was a month ago, but still.
I do see it as a problem. The visuals are very important. The huddled masses are not going to read exerts in the NYT or the WoPo. They will watch their teevee machine. Put it out there as it happens.
I just don’t get this, it’s not like drump and his allies at faux haven’t already been calling this all political from the get go.
Agreed. The Trump financial corruption and the very real prospect of money laundering, racketeering, and violation of the RICO Act seem not to have been investigated thoroughly by Mueller.
