Discussion for article #226112
If you’re three and you’re dad’s a cop and he’s unloading his gun and it accidentally goes off, believe me you’re going to want to have a gun of your own.
Guns are safe.
The cop was just standing his ground. Have you ever met a three-year-old? I have, and believe me, being armed is the only real defense.
Thank the maker that his son is expected to be ok.
Now his dad can figure out what the F he’s doing wrong during the unloading process.
Man, that Eddie Eagle firearm safety awareness campaign really paid off, didn’t it? Seems like the #1 Ignored Firearm Safety Rule remains, “NEVER point your damn gun at anything or anyone you don’t want to get shot.”
Doing it in front of a child would be the first mistake.
Doing it anywhere in his own house would be the mistake. Jesus. People really do not think very clearly around guns, and seem to be ignorant of the fact that inanimate machines do what they do. Even if you don’t want them to.
I’m enjoying this chance to feel self-righteous about a mistake made by a guy whose job involves handling a gun every day. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t feel bad enough already for shooting his kid. I think we should all go over to his house and give him tips on safe gun handling.
Happens more than people realize. My dad was on the NYPD…he could tell you stories of this. When I went into the hospital in the 50’s as a little kid to have my tonsils out, there was a baby in there, same story. There are a lot of people who should never be allowed to have a gun. And some of them are law enforcement types.
I knew a federal agent who shot himself in the leg at the gun range holstering his weapon. This is the thing that really irritates me about the open carry idiots. Strolling around in Target with your gun slung over your shoulder is not showing respect for the weapon. If law enforcement types can fall into that trap, why would we trust some "militia’ type in Texas?
But no way Gun Nuts will ever have an accident. They are TRAINED to be around fir–BLAM!!
Uh…nevermind.
He needs “counseling…”
Glad the son will be OK.
This is what happens to highly trained, experienced professionals with guns. Gun safety is a chimera, they’re made to kill and they’ll have their way sooner or later.
OK, so…where was the good guy with his gun?
Keep that booger hook OFF the bang switch!
Just hope the child receives counseling for the aftereffects of this traumatic experience.
Idiot.
Just more regrettable collateral damage inevitable from the absolute right to carry handguns anywhere, anytime. Just ask Wayne; he’ll tell ya!
