I really don’t give a rat’s ass about this language, but Matthews could be a much improved and skilled interviewer if he would rein in his ego and constant interruptions of guests. It’s annoying, not enlightening.

I first read that as “You don’t know shit”, had to reread, but then again as it was Sununu, the first reading was more accurate.

But he is a horrible host and MSNBC needs to either ditch him or, at the very least, switch his role from being a host/interviewer into one of being a mere panel member or commentator. He is incapable of keeping his own feelings and prejudices in check (his rants this week about “progressive” and “socialist” have been beyond the pale), he is rude to guests, speaks over interviewers, sexist and ageist, throws out prejudiced language (his recent gem about Cubans being just one in a long list), and frequently gets his facts wrong.

He is long past his expiration date as a TV host.

That is the problem. Not saying “shit” on air, but using it to compliment Sununu, of all people. Matthews has a way of toadying up to mindless dickwads that drives me insane. He belongs in a sealed tent with Chuck Todd and Don Lemon.

We’ve come a long way in recent years in our public maturity, for instance regarding gays and marijuana. Isn’t it about time we get over this juvenile obsession we have with people using common slang words on television? Drives me nuts when they bend over backwards to apologize for somebody saying shit or fuck on the air. Who the fuck gives a shit anymore??

At the end of his post-debate coverage, Matthews was wrapping up to the camera and said something like:
“Thanks for joining us. Oh and by the way…someone forgot to put this in the script…join me tomorrow for an edition of Hardball.”
I wonder if they actually forgot to put that in his teleprompter script or if someone told them to leave it out. It would be silly if he got in trouble, but you never know.
