It’s a really bad combination, no wonder the USA ranks the highest in violence among developed nations.
“The show’s host Joe Scarborough said that the widespread fear is a byproduct of a lack of trust in leaders.”
Bull. It’s not a byproduct of anything. It’s the direct product of a profit-driven infotainment industry that we used to call “news,” and fearmongering politicians like Tim Murphy (R-PA) who stick their finger into the wind to gauge the intensity of irrational public panic while holding up their middle finger to science.
In other words, Morning Joke, it’s your political pals and the industry that employs a joke like you. But being a Republican, accountability is always externalized.
Not only that, but this is the kind of time we need a Surgeon General to take command. Too bad the cowardly Senate repubes are more afraid of the NRA than they are of ebola.
Even worse, those feigning such concern for public health consistently advocate for deregulating polluters, for “tort reform” so the victims of dangerous products have no recourse, against climate science, against women’s health concerns, unshackling the agricultural industry’s use of carcinogenic defoliants enabled by crops genetically modified to resist them…the hypocrisy is boundless.
The cowards here are Deutsch and Holder. Holder’s another story but Donny has had a free ride his whole fucking life, having never been stuck in a difficult situation requiring courage and determination. Daddy Deutsch set him up and as a result son Donny became the classic weasel who was born on third base and thought he hit a triple, the silver spoon smart ass with the best address in Manhattan and the must have summer place out in East Hampton.
And because of it all, Donny Deutsch believes he really has something of importance to offer. And of course, we’re suppose to listen. He’s just a punk .
The TRUTH HURTS doesn’t it?
We are a nation of easily frightened SHEEP with no education, no civic responsibilities, and no sense of morals.
Thank You Ronald Reagan for destroying America and turning her into a third-world economy and banana-republic form of Government.
It didn’t used to be this way. I am old enough to remember the 60’s and 70’s when people cared enough about each other to fight for change. Now, we only spend our days mindlessly pursuing the Almighty Dollar while engrossed in our cell phones, playing pointless games, posting mindless “brain-farts” on Twitter, and taking endless “selfies” to post on Instagram/Vine/Snapchat/WhatsApp to stroke our own ignorant narcissism, oblivious to the world around us.
Just the way the Oligarchs want us; Stupid, Fearful, and Compliant.
We’re not nation of cowards. We’re a nation of the uninformed. And the group that once was responsible for helping keep us otherwise, a group historically under government control in the sense that the “airways” were publicly owned, most of the time misinform us or, at best, under inform. PBS isn’t even any good at this any longer so afraid of pissing off the right and losing their public funding.
Those “scary” people being blacks.
A dog will holler when it’s hit.
Or, as Hunter S. Thompson more succinctly put it, a “nation of frightened dullards”.
Hypocrites aka ‘fickle’ conservatives…
Let’s see, the GOP has spent the last 15 years telling everyone that GUVMINT is bad and is going to kill them, and then they moan about how peeps don’t trust the government?
STFU Morning Joe crew.
As an interesting tangent to this, I was reading a bit on the Battle of Cowpens last night. The Virginia “militia” that was at that battle, was largely ex-Continental soldiers (at the time, men signed up for a 3 year deal with the Continental army…a 6 month gig for the VA militia), because they were being paid by wealtheir Virginians to take their place. Think of it sort of like paying someone to go to Vietnam in your place when you got drafted.
The participation rate of active military service,be it in the Continental army or in a militia was shockingly low. What was even worse was the refusal of most states to even provide the food, clothing or money they pledged to provide. At Cowpens, for example, not a single Continental soldier had shoes…and this was a battle fought in January!
So these behaviors are a long and storied American tradition.
$4 billion will be spent on advertising this campaign season telling the public they can’t trust the current leadership.
We are NOT a nation of cowards. We are a nation of uninterested or disaffected people who let the cowards among us run the show. Which amounts to the same thing, I suppose…
this is really rich… iirc, douche was one of those ninnies who just last week following the dr spencer revelation of testing positive was screeching about quarantine…
Well, yes. I agree that most Americans are cowards, both physically and morally.
A friend once said:
“We were once a society, now we are an economy.
We were once citizens, now we are consumers.”
I think ‘cowards’ is too strong a word; but as a nation, we are very easily spooked and frightened.
