Discussion for article #229454

Well, obviously they need to stop voting on Sundays and shut down the Black churches. D’uh!

Thank you NAACP and all of the others involved in the Moral Mondays, and all of the other outreach you are doing, to show minorities how their vote is being threatened. As I heard one black man interviewed say yesterday, one sure way you can make sure to get us out to vote, is to try and tell us that we can’t.

The future of Republican voting will be an App for your corporate phone. And ten minutes on November Tuesdays to submit it. The App will be distributed freely at NRA meetings, but otherwise will be obtained from a page on each states’ web site, although hours of availability may vary.

You guys need to learn how to verbally describe this kind of data in a more detailed and thorough manner. The first two paragraphs are garbledigook and you probably didn’t realize it because you’ve got the data in front of you and already understand it. To someone who has no idea what you’re trying to describe in terms of the data and trend, it is a mess. Also, what “surge” are you talking about? A “surge” on Sunday compared to overall early voting or some sort of “surge” compared to last mid-term election? The former was entirely expected and really means nothing without some context by comparing it to last election. I suppose it helps point out precisely why GOPers/Teatrolls are getting rid of Sunday voting in other states, but other than that, meh. Most of us, I feel safe saying, knew that Sunday would see a “surge,” but are more concerned about what the restrictive voter suppression attempts in these states have done to minority turnout since the last election. How can you possibly tell what this data means for this election without that context?

It’s funny cuz I can totally imagine some Fauxbot moron saying “just look…27% before and 53% on Sunday…that’s almost exactly double…clearly they were all voting twice!!!”

25,000 votes isn’t a lot of early voting compared to the populations of those states. I hope that’s not indicative of generalized depressed turnout.

There will be a wave the media is missing…watch…

Outstanding!

How the Republicans prefer to see voting:

Headline: “More Than Half Of 2014 Sunday Early Voters In Georgia, NC Are Black”

This just means that those states will stop early voting next time 'round.

Well of course…because obviously, Early Voting is just another avenue of “voter fraud”.

Good! I welcome our new black overlords.

Seriously, this is the only way we’ll see change - we’re seeing a surge in early voting in TX too - makes me a little bit hopeful.

The data is still meaningful, within the context of the current cycle’s early voting patterns. As indicated, so far only a little over a quarter of the early votes have been by blacks. On Sunday, blacks were 53%.

And while yes, a surge on Sunday is expected due to the GOTV efforts that come out of churches and people generally having that day off, for the people watching the races closely, knowing exactly how big of a surge is good stuff to know.

Not without a lot of pushback and the DOJ challenging SCOTUS on their Voting Rights Act decision.

Vote early! Vote often! It’s the Okefenokee way!

I think it said in one day, not cumulative
