Half of these newly-insured are Republicans.
Shhhhhhh!! (Itâs their dirty little secretâŚ)
If only hospitals had lobbyists.
So what part of what Charlie Pierce lovingly calls allowing corporations to âmake a f-k ton of money,â doesnât the GOP agree with?
OhâŚthe Obama part. I gotchaâŚ
So you want to repeal Obamacare? Come and get it!
âI told you! I told you it would never work. Now look. Those people are going to the hospital and paying for the care, and that means theyâll likely do that again. Doctors and nurses will have to provide care for those people, and that meansâŚwell, those people donât deserve to have medical care. I told you it wouldnât work. Now look whatâs happening! Pretty soon everybody will think that somehow they deserve to have medical care, and where will that take us. Straight to hell! I warned you about this, but did you stop it? No! Now even the nail ladies will think they should be able to see a doctor!â
A year ago, when all the righties were telling me that Obamacare was going to destroy the health care industry, I decided to invest in Vanguardâs health care sector fund.
It is up 36 percent over the past twelve months.
â40 percent above its expectations.â
because at the time they were first generated, those expectations were artificially deflated as part of the pattern of obstructionâŚ
to quote my favorite President, âProceedâŚâ
Two data points do not a trend make, but Iâm acquainted with two persons who recently got health insurance under the ACA.
One never had health insurance. She emigrated here â legally â 19 years ago. The 2nd had health insurance, but could no longer afford it. She can now and has lupus. Both are women. Both were intimidated by the sign up process. My wife pushed both of them hard until they got signed up.
The immigrant â now a citizen â is getting her 1st ever mammogram and other lady stuff⌠The 2nd is getting treated for her lupus and recently got her AA at age 49. Sheâs going for her BA now.
My blood pressure goes through the roof when I think of the sadists â and thatâs what they are â in Congress and elsewhere who would deny these two persons health insurance.
Denying Medicaid to these poorer segments of our society it plain and simple genocide.
Donât know the ages of my fellow TPM commenters, but I can tell you that controlling hypertension, cholesterol, thryoid and and host of other ailments theses day is relatively cheap with generic and very effective drugs. $4-$6 per month.
Well within my lifetime I recall any number of relatives, friends, neighbors, colleagues dying in their 50s from stroke, heart attack.
Yes, itâs genocide.
By any chance, if there are Democrats on any weekend talk shows, this is exactly what needs to be inserted into the discussion. You know perfectly well what the âgarbage topicsâ are going to be, so the discussion needs to be directed away from the Republican agenda.
You wonât hear this on Fox.
President Obama.
Worst.
Communist.
Ever.
In some cases, this hard-earned benefit and the hard-earned revenues that the new ACA law produces for the healthcare infrastructure of a community means even more than it does in other places.
Anyone else from a community that DEPENDS on a local clinic or small hospital for a large portion of its community commerrce?
Thereâs more than one island of healthcare âout thereâ in rural America that Republican obstructionists in Governorâs seats and state legislatures can make or break, depending on the stroke of their state jurisdiction pens.
Just how devastating has their obstruction of the expansion of Medicaid been on some of these communities? We will know sooner than later, hopefully soon enough to influence the outcome of the election this November.
Candidates at every level need to hammer the Medicaid expansion obstruction debacle home, every chance they get. It is very local and very personal.

Years ago we had a coupla bucks in Vanguard.
Donât recall why we got rid of it.
I think it was a loser at the time.
SO⌠sue the bastard, what else can you do.
Of course, because obviously any savings from anything should be reserved for the pockets of the 1%.
Iâm sure they think this falls under free goodies from Uncle Sugar.
I think Nancy Pelosi deserves a good deal of credit, too.
