Discussion: Montana TV Station Apologizes For Not Airing Audio Of GOPer's Alleged Assault

Yep, self-censorship.

You can’t fix stupid.

The American people are proving to be the easiest people to manipulate and propagandize.

The BIG 5 that control 90% of the news that Americans hear and see are all huge corporations with CEO’s that are very rich and very Republican. The Main Stream Media in the US is a far right conservative media…they are NOT liberal but that is what Americans have been brain washed into believing by the US Oligarchs like Gregg Gianforte.

The US Media - the big 5 which includes such ownership as Sinclair, is all about keeping the bottom 90% in line.

“It was obvious before he even came in the room that he had every intention of beating the shit out of his face with my fists,” Gianforte said. “There was little I could do to avoid the situation.”

It was a mistake.

Did you fire the people who made the mistake?

No?

Then it is company policy.

The depth of the ocean is on par with the depth of the Bshit in Montana…

Oh yeah it’s bull shit but I guessing that a lot of folks specifically live in MT to prove how tough they are. And as I saw on another web site and had thought of myself, has anyone spoken to his wife? I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she had something to tell us. This kind of thing tends to be some folks mode of operation in everything they do.

I’d like to see that lie hung round his neck as an albatross forever. That was the response of a morally bankrupt weakling. He’s a back-alley backstabber who lacks OOs in addition to lacking integrity.

I’d bet that blaming everyone but yourself doesn’t count as tough in MT.

Agree, no time in jail, too many conservative characters surrounding this who are devoid of any ethics or responsibility.

Wasn’t the Sheriff’s statement enough verification? The Sheriff’s Department had the audio too. If the Sheriff says the audio was credible enough to start an investigation (and that was the only hard evidence at first) then they should take his word for it. What do they want, a re-enactment in their offices, and DNA tests on the victim and criminal?

FIFY…

"…The only verifiable facts are what is being stated by the Gallatin County sheriff, a Gianforte campaign donor, at this time.”

It wasn’t an alleged assault, it was an actual assault. There is audio and eyewitnesses.

It’s not even “alleged” that Gianforte did the assaulting. Again, audio and eyewitnesses. Also, many of those eyewitnesses were journalists who reported on what they saw.

Maybe. I certainly agree with your assessment that Sinclair is a dangerous right-wing propaganda broadcast network,

That said, I think you may be overlooking the most likely motive for KECI’s reportorial decisions regarding Gianforte - which is that KECI’s news division is probably owned and run by conservative cretins who already possess the same far-right values as Sinclair, and who made the decisions based on their own ideological biases and disregard for journalistic and societal norms.

You never know which way the “surprise” is going to go. From a GOTV perspective, it is better to bank as many solid D voters as possible early on. That way, we can focus on a more limited pool on the day of the election to get the other flakier D voters to show up. Also, many D voters cannot get to the polls easily on election day given family obligations and less flexible work schedules. Generally speaking, early voting is far more important to the broadening the vote (i.e., helping Ds) than it works against us. It is one of the reasons that the Rs work so hard to kill it whenever possible.

He apologized to his crowd after results were announced, crowd said, “You don’t have to!”, “We love you!”, shit like that.

Don’t tell me, management at Sinclair sent him an email to make that exact statement so they can appear (incorrectly) to be a balanced source. I will not be watching that station when I pass through Bozeman in a few weeks.

I’m thinking we should go with Strong John, a very loose translation of his name, ask Ben Jacobs.

Swap “his face” and “my fists” and you’ve got a WINNAH!

Lemme guess - he’ll be “serving the community” by serving in Congress.

I don’t buy the ‘unintentional’ or the trying to be without bias’ crap. The know their audience leans Republican, they are owned by Republicans and they probably are Republicans. I am as upset by this election as by the Trump election because now people really know what they are voting for and they do it anyway.
