Discussion: MO Secretary Of State Launches Probe Of New Sen.-Elect Josh Hawley

I really wonder how long that guidance can last.

If we have rules in place to prevent disclosure of wrongdoing because the alleged criminal is running for office, then we perversely incentivize wrongdoing in pursuit of elected office.

Disconnectedly: the stated goal of the GOP is to bring an end to government. This distinguishes them from liberals, whose goal is to improve the lives of the polity through wise application of collective power. It seems like an inevitability that doing any kind of outreach for a government program – “Obamacare will help you avoid medical bankruptcy” – is necessarily going to “raise the profile” of the liberal candidate at the expense of the extreme libertarian candidate. Can we draw a principled line between straight-up violations of the Hatch Act vs outreach, when the political question is tantamount to rule by the elite vs effective government?

Against primary opponents as well as in the general.

Maybe some Republicans are starting to wake up, finally.

Where is sleazy Scalia when his beloved, crooked and corrupt Republican Party needs him to carry an election?

If action had been taken after the primary, this would have benefited McCaskil. This way the Republican governor would get to appoint if Hawley gets in trouble.

The people of MO look foolish. All of this stuff about Hawley was known. He was always an empty suit. Yet, they voted for him because Trump said something about a caravan. If they handle this investigation in a professional manner and don’t try to simply do a perfunctory ‘nothing to see here’ review, Hawley will be forced to resign and a new special election will happen. If that happens, Dems have to focus their electoral strategy on turning the suburban counties of KC/STL blue.

No that is what it appears to be. It is a really a real mirage to discredit christian conservatives and confederate patriots who are real Americans of the Heartland who pray to snakes that curl up like turds and say “Don’t Tread on Me”.

A very clever scheme involving ingenious use of mirrors and fake news concocted by liberals, Hillary Clinton, Comet Pizza, a Walmart parking lot, pedophiles and Benghazi looking to take away religious freedoms or gun rights.

I take your point but it’s not clear to me when anyone outside Hawley’s office found out what was happening. I saw a report a week before the election.

By whom, though?

Makes you wonder who put those rules in place.

Sometimes. But really, Republicans would vote for this guy no matter when the news came out. Perhaps they didn’t want him but didn’t want McCaskill to win either so are now going about the business of installing who they want. Remember, a dead guy won in Nevada…a dead pimp.
