Discussion: MO Gov Accused Of Blackmail Dropped From Ads, Cancels Statewide Tax Tour

Oof, it’s not like Rauner was enjoying an easy re-election campaign before this.

See ya Gov … bye bye. You could try ‘need to spend more time in the basement’, to keep it real but I don’t think that’s gonna work.

This fine man is our governor… and while he may be voted out there is no hope of our state legislators doing anything.

Until this shithole resigns, I don’t really care what the GOP does or doesn’t do with his sorry lying ass.

Why can’t we get Donald ejected this quickly, not that Pence will be much better. He seems as ignorant as Donald without all the goofy twitter comments and moronic BS coming out in unscripted interviews.

Running scared, are you sweetie??

The top priority of Republicans.

Citizens of the state? They can wait in line.

Love means never having to say you’re sorry. h/t Jennifer Cavalleri

If he doesn’t resign, this could end up being great for Claire McCaskill.

She won her last re-election in large part thanks to women being galvanized after Todd Akin’s legitimate rape comments. With the Governor not resigning, she could tie him around her opponent’s neck and ask if he (don’t know if there’s a she in the GOP Primary?) thinks that it’s okay to support somebody who blackmails women after having affairs with them?

Isn’t the likely republican the AG?

It would help if you did it like this, “”""“Mousiori Gov. Greitens, a family values Conservative and the husband of Sheena Elise Chestnut, has suffered falling out with his party after being accused of an extramarital affair, battery of the woman and attempts to extort her silence.”"""" The hypocrisy factor in his deeds is just as lousy as the criminal one.

Thanks TPM. I am in Missouri and the local news has this story tied down tighter than a drum.

Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens, who’s been accused of slapping and blackmailing a woman

Slapping? Constituent outreach.
Blackmailing? Standard Rethugliklan economic policy.

So … what’s the problem?

Blackmailing the victim is a new wrinkle among republicans. Last Friday, the WSJ reported Trump had been blackmailed by “Stormy Daniels”, a porn queen to whom Trump paid $130,000 on the eve of the election. To paraphrase Jerry Lee Louis, a whole lotta blackmailing goin on.

I’m not a journalist but I did play the drums for several years. Here’s my take from Florida. Your Gov. is a piece of phony shit. He campaigned on “character”, guns and values. After conning the people of Mo. to vote for him he screwed a woman that was not his wife and lacked the balls to deal with that honestly. Instead, he beat up the woman and tried to blackmail her with a nudie pic. I guess he threatened to show her husband, who appears to be a real man, but she told him right up front. She has a lot more balls than your Gov. Since hubby knew and had no fear of the phony Gov. he went public taking all the Gov’s game away. Now Gov. has a wife that knows what a piece of shit she married but the Mo. press ( at least the conservative leaning press ) is trying is trying to keep you from knowing.

The cheating happened in 2015 but the rest of your take is essentially correct.

I wouldn’t call it blackmail - I’d say it was a payment for “loss of opportunity to promote her personal brand”.
