Discussion: Mitchell Pokes Holes In Ford Testimony: 'No Reasonable Prosecutor' Would Bring Case

THIS! My first thought was “So what?” This is a job interview for a Supreme Court justice, not a criminal trial.i couldn’t care less if you or anyone else would prosecute.

Job Interviewer: We heard some bad things about your conduct on your last job.
Interviewee: Can you prove them beyond a reasonable doubt?
Interviewer: No. When can you start?

Precisely! Kavanaugh used the same lie repeatedly in his perjurous testimony.

Hey, Ms. Mitchell. Would you hire this guy to work in your prosecutor’s office? Even if you could never fire him unless you got a two-thirds vote of the Senate after a majority vote of the House? Would you?

Even if Kavanaugh were innocent of the sexual assault he lied repeatedly in his testimony regarding his drinking and the meaning of things in his yearbook among others. He demonstrated a partisan bias and lack of judicial temperament at the hearing. He may be well regarded among legal scholars, but surely there are others equally well regarded. We can and must do better.

She is full of it isn’t she? I can see why they selected her. No, no reasonable prosecutor would bring a case against Kav based JUST on Dr. Ford’s claims. They would investigate the allegation, as in do a real investigation, and if evidence beyond “he said she said” was found then the case would proceed. Dr. Ford’s words are the basis for a complaint.

Any prosecutor that ignored Dr. Ford’s claims without investigation shouldn’t be a prosecutor. Particularly if the reason for it is partisan as it is here. Frankly I didn’t see anything from this woman that made me believe the lofty things said about her. She came across as an ill prepared person of modest intellect.

I sort of agree with Ms. Mitchel, but there is a huge difference between " we can’t prosecute on this basis and hope for a conviction" and “he didn’t do it”, which she didn’t say. The fallout from Kavanaugh’s ‘performance’ Thursday is still coming.

God so many people can’t pull a specific date out of their heads unless it’s their birthday, some can’t even do it for their wedding anniversary.

( As an example I saw the movie “White Boy Rick” Saturday night. During the movie it covers certain years in the 80s. They flashed the date 1984 first and I immediately thought, oh that’s the year I graduated college. And then my second thought was who was President; and my third was where was Brett Kavanaugh, and what was he doing? I know this part is stupid but hey…)

Well, knock me over with the proverbial feather. A religious right-wing apparatchik vouching for one of her own. Who could possibly have foreseen this?

I really think this ( participating in this circus) will bite her in the butt someday, that’s why we have karma.

It’s interesting that those were pretty much the exact words that James Comey used in his presser about Hillary’s emails. Funny how that wasn’t good enough back then…

What he did prove beyond a shadow of a doubt was a complete lack of judicial temperament. His performance alone - regardless of its veracity - was disqualifying.

I’m sorry, but why is she still talking?

Nobody had ever heard of her before a week ago, and now she’s a VIP, whose opinion is worth anything?

Prediction: On her death bed she will list this whole debacle as her highest regret.

Yes, and her interviews with the other witnesses? It’s a joke. Mitchell also stated that the hearing format was not appropriate for drawing conclusions!!

…and that may be true if this was a CRIMINAL trial. Alas, it’s a job interview and if Kavanaugh’s demeanor didn’t throw you off then how about the rant about Hillary? The disrespect towards a sitting female Senator? How about the lies about his drinking, his financial history, the lack of papers? This is truly amazing.
