Discussion: Missouri Counties Face Uphill Climb To Prepare For High-Stakes Midterm

officials expressed uncertainty about whether poll workers will grasp the legal changes.

If you’ve ever been to Missouri (pronounced Misery) you’ll know that 75% of Missourians are still grappling with the idea that the Earth is more than 5,000 years old. Thus, I wouldn’t hold my breath that “poll workers will grasp the legal changes.”

Hey, back off. While we have our challenges (like every state), we’re actually like much of the rest of the country in that the majority of sensible (read: Democratic) voters are concentrated in the more urban areas (KC, StL, & Columbia). We’re gerrymandered like the rest of the nation, which affects the way things turn out here. If your only experience is down around the Springfield area, I can see how your view has been shaded, but you’re painting with a pretty broad brush for the whole state.

Another in the endless series of complications that could easily be solved by a simple Oregon-style mail-in-only system. All these hackable machine, ballot change, polling place crises are completely unnecessary and subvert real democracy. Oregonians must be watching this with disbelief that the vast majority of the country is so unutterably stupid.

As a matter of fact, yes it is. The Ozarks to be precise. Galena to be even preciser. Mea culpa.

Oh, dear Lord, you were basically in Arkansas. Definite banjo music territory there.

This is Missouri Republicans having to deal with the consequences of an absurd law. Unfortunately, everyone else in Missouri will also have to deal with the consequences too.
