Discussion: Mississippi Gov. Echoes Trump's Claims That Polls And Election Are 'Rigged'

You may not believe this, but once upon a time, even evil people had to have some small measure of intelligence to succeed.

I’ve gotta look later, but that term used to mean something different.

Now that period was reconstruction, but still

In the interview, Bryant went on to claim that the election will also be “rigged,” and that “any Republican has to have an overwhelming majority of the vote” in order to win.

And the nerds know why

If the Dems are so successful at doing this, why are you in office?

Bryant continued: “…and accurate polls would show that the South won the Whoa-ah’ of Nothen’ Aggression. Wee-uns’ have always bin’ the victims of the lie-buuraal’ media.”

For those who are curious, Phil Bryant is like Rick Perry, but actually dumber.

So much static. So little sense.

I would not be shocked if the governor still grumbled about Goodman, Schwerner and Cheney. As well as “that darn Medger Evers” “It’s his own fault for standing in his driveway” He is a Council of conservative citizens member after all.

It wouldn’t be October without the Governor of the dumbest state in the union reminding us all how dumb he is.

That’s Alabama’s governor, not Mississippi’s.

They all look alike to me.

Catch 22. If it were possible to rig an election, it would be impossible for this guy to be governor of any state, even Miss.

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant knows the polls are rigged because that’s how he got elected.

I’m no mathematician, as that’s Mrs. CharlieE’s job. However, I do recall from the math lessons of my youth that the precise number of votes that you need to win is less than “overwhelming;” it’s one more vote than your competitor receives.

I wonder if Greg Abbott is stupid enough to join this chorus? I wish he was up for re-election but the way our governors slither around in Texas I can’t remember how long the term is. For half of my life it seems it was W then Perry, and Perry and Perry and Perry…But in fact I’ve lived through a bunch of bad governors. The two or three who were good really stand out.

I’ll never stop missing Anne Richardson.

New York and “neighboring” Arkansas? One of those states must be near the Simpson’s Springfield, which borders Ohio, Nevada, Maine and Kentucky.

“Where the more liberal voting populations may be, in the cities and New York and California and some of the other areas, all you have to do is win those,” Bryant said. “You can forget about flyover country. That doesn’t seem fair to me at all.”

He’s right. It’s not fair that the flyover states’ votes are worth so much more than CA’s or NY’s. If it weren’t for the undemocratic Electoral College, repukes might never again see the inside of the White House.

It’s undemocratic intentionally - that is the function. We aren’t a democracy. We’re a constitutional democratic republic. It’s not a winner take all system, purposely.
