Discussion: Michelle Wolf: WH Correspondents' Association 'Cowards' For Ditching Comedy

I love her. I mean I really love her.

Yes it takes courage to be a really good comedian because you’re telling truths and that is never easy.

They’re going for safe irrelevance.

Which is where the mainstream press has been for a very long time, but most relevantly since Trump came on the scene!
Sad!

And Flint still does not have clean drinking water and neither do Detroit schools.

I’m not a fan of hers. She goes for low hanging fruit and makes the simplest, most obvious jokes about things. She never goes the next step to find out what’s truly funny about a situation.

I preferred their past approach of occasionally funny irrelevance.

Someone should ask The Heroic Martyr of the People His Holiness Jim Acosta what he thinks of such a move.

I have to think either the media has been cowed by the Trump WH administration, in only 2 years they have sunk into the defensive position fitting an autocratic state.

Or, they cannot take the criticism that they themselves have some responsibility for the Trumpism world we now live in, just as Michelle Wolf called them out for.

Or both.

Michelle shouldn’t be so kind.

Honestly, the dinner should just be cancelled forever. It was like SNL, mostly stupid crap with the occasional gem that allows the stupid crap to keep continuing, and they’re never going to top Obama dropping the mic. The White House press corps was created to control the press and made them into little stooges debasing themselves for access; they shouldn’t be allowed to continue with their self congratulatory farce.

Or in the words of Hillary Clinton, “F— the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.”

Or perhaps the decision was in response to the last comedian to play the WHCD, one who was patently unfunny. Who was that again?
