Discussion for article #227175
In Texas of all places?
Thatās fantastic for Sam!
GAY COWBOY! YES YES YES!
Fabulous.
Sounds like the setup for an independent film.
Aikman will be thrilled
This is bad news for me. I HATE the Cowboys, and always will as long as Jerry Jones owns them.
If Sam ever gets into the lineup, I would have to root for them on whichever plays he is involved in. Itās a conundrum, conundrum I say.
I canāt believe I am saying this because he is pretty much the biggest clown in professional football, but this is a smart move by Jerry Jones. The Cowboy defense is horrendous. This guy can only help. I donāt know Jonesā true motivations here but from a strictly football standpoint, a team in desperate need of defensive players signed a capable guy who tried out for a team loaded with good defensive players and didnāt make the cut. Smart move by Dallas.
ohhhhh, this will NOT go over well in Texas where football is a religion and the Dallas Cowboys are on par with the Apostles. I wish I could say that if he makes them win, Texans would forget, but, they just aināt that broadminded. I truly fear for Mr. Samās safety while he is in that state.
Good for the Cowboysā¦ I was proud of my Rams for drafting Sam, but I knew he was going to have an uphill climb. He played the one position the Rams were stacked at. Glad to see that heās going to still be in the league.
As a Giants fan, I must now hate Michael Sam, gay rights be damned.
After years of domestic abuse, murder, and other heinous crimes; and the shocking destruction of brain and body that modern pro football imposes on its players, I have decided to give up on football.
So a couple of days ago, when a player from the team I used to root for was arrested for domestic abuse, it did not have that wrenching effect that it used to have. I didnāt have to try to justify to myself trying to get him back in the game; didnāt have to make excuses.
I recommend trying this, and see how it feels. There are plenty of sports that donāt destroy people, follow those!
STL needed another defensive end like they needed a hole in the head.
Dallas, on the other handā¦
Hope he does well - hope he get a chance to do his best. But remember, personal attributes aside, he is really in the āmarginalā area - he is not, at this point , a potential All-Pro. He is a talented capable athlete, with some limitations, trying to achieve his goal of making a team.
The 1990s called.
Theyād like their broadbrushed homophobic projection back stat!
The Clownboys are a laughingstock.
Have been since Jerrah Stretchface axed Jimmy Johnson.
Most Clownboy fans loathe some combo of him, themselves, the team.
Iām pleased Sam found a job.
But donāt go acting like there are no LGBTs in TX.

Good for Sam and for the Cowboys, but shame on the NFL for not giving this outstanding young athlete a shot because of his sexual orientation.
They need to get over it - there are already gay players in the NFL. They just donāt know who they are.
Sorry, but texans are not all troglodytes. There are actually huge communities of gay folks in the state.
And lots of normal folks who donāt give a crap who someone loves too.
Iām glad he landed somewhere. And knowing the rate of injuries in a typical NFL season, heāll probably get picked up either by the Cowboys or another team.
That being said, what the hell am I suppose to do with his Rams jersey I bought?
Any suggestions?
You do realize, donāt you, that parts of Texas are more tolerant than many parts of āprogressiveā states. The Mayor of Houston is an āoutā lesbian, as is the Sheriff of Dallas County.
As to Lupe Valdez in Dallas, this is a good synopsis," albeit from wiki
"On November 4, 2008, Lupe Valdez was re-elected Sheriff of Dallas County with 388,327 votes to Lowell Cannadayās 322,808 votes, a margin of roughly 65,500. Valdez received over 99,000 more votes than the āStraight Democraticā option. She won in precincts across Dallas County, including formerly Republican areas including Valley Ranch in Irving and Mesquite. "
In 2012, Lupe received 58% of the vote and was reelected to a third term.
Oh, no! Does this mean I now have to root for the Cowboys? Arrrrgh!
Iām happy for Michael Sam, though.
Wrong. It started when the asshole Jerry Jones axed Tom Landry.
Jimmy Johnson should have stuck to college ball.
