Wow, so what you’re saying is that the number of rounds fired is the exactly correct rounds every time?
So, when some dipshit quickdraws a gun and fires a round into his leg…that was the exact right number of bullets the job took?

How about this? The officer already has his weapon out when he backed up, nearly striking the two men. The officer opened his door, striking Brown. The officer grabbed Brown (as several witnesses attested). Brown saw the gun and instinctively reached for it. and in the struggle the gun went off.
The autopsy would support this theory, and there’s more witnesses to support it rather than the story of one murdering, jackass of a cop.
Like any of this negates shooting at an unarmed man running away from you.
Doesn’t the evidence also support Dorian Johnson’s account? I don’t think there’s anything that contradicts what Johnson said.
The pro-cop spin is strong with these experts.
There are still a lot of questions about this case. Michael Brown was not killed in the police car. He was killed on the street. And then simply left there for dead, for hours. That part isn’t changed a bit by this report.
The report does indicate that there was some struggle in the car. Pretty strong struggle, if skin and blood are in there. The officer also apparently has injuries. So a fight appears to be likely. Who started it and how it progressed are still pretty unclear.
The evidence throughout has tended to negate clear stories from either side. Michael Brown was probably not a simple kid walking across the street who was accosted by a cop with murder on his mind.
Officer Wilson certainly did not follow procedure for a shooting incident, didn’t call it in, didn’t summon EMS, didn’t render first aid when the subject was obviously no longer a threat (first rule of first aid is that responders never assume someone is dead until they are declared dead).
Maybe Wilson will make the excuse that his “injuries” disoriented him and caused his improper response to the incident. It might even be true, although one would expect an injured officer to call for EMS aid for himself, at least, in such a case.
What I do think is that prejudging this case before what facts as can be gathered are put together is a recipe for polarity and inaccuracy. If you think you know what happened because you hate cops or African Americans, you’ll probably get it wrong.
The truth is probably messy, mixed up, and somewhere in the middle.
In real time, the threat assessment is done in real time. Keyword: RealTime
Not too hard a concept to comprehend, is it?
Or would you prefer the defender to whip out some laminated card which shows acceptable shot limits for a given range of threat(s) based on height, weight sex and race?
“…Someone got an injury that tore off skin and left it on the car…”
As conservatives will affirm, it is everyone’s civic duty to fight corrupt government.
From the very beginning I could see this was a terrible case to prop up as a cause celebre for police violence/shootings.
At best, its a muddle of he said/she said and maybes and possible scenarios.
There are ones that are far more clear cut with undeniable evidence.
And its so hard to get any conviction of a police officer in even those clear cut cases.
I expect that a properly trained police officer would already know these things.
Or maybe his hand was on the door frame trying to push himself away from a Cop that is drawing a pistol when the first shot was fired at him from point blank range. Could it be the other 8 bullets that entered his body don’t somehow matter? That stopping, raising your hands and saying “I give up, don’t shoot me!” doesn’t matter. He was murdered by the Cop in a fit of rage or cowardice. If he gets away with it, there is no justice.
They do. As do citizens who have been properly trained and licensed to carry concealed weapons.
Please don’t fall for the “he coulda shot him in the leg” story. That’s for TV and the movies. NOBODY who is in harm’s way thinks that, or does that. Not if they want to live.
Don’t ask me, genius. You’re the one who said that the right number of bullets is the number fired.
And I don’t know if you think you’re being clever or something, but time passes, the world over “in real time”. There is, in fact, never a case where someone will be firing a weapon where it wouldn’t be occurring in “real time”.
So, again, by your own stupid statement, any time a weapon is fired, the right number of shots will be fired.
Absolutely correct.
I see EG, Beej, etc. has a brand new sockpuppet. The names change, but the story stays the same.
When we get to the name calling, it’s fair to say that the name caller has nothing to offer.
Thanks for playing, though.
Awww…you said something stupid and got called on it. Does that make you sad? Do you need to get a sock in here to give yourself some likes?
You fail to make point.
You fail to make a counterpoint.
Then you name call.
Then you double down.
That’s a loss by any measuring stick I’ve ever seen.
You got it, Beej. I’m not the one who was so stupid as to put:
“The answer is that it takes as many rounds fired into an attacker as it takes to stop them from being an attacker. End of story.”
Easy. The autopsy showed that one bullet pierced Brown’s right bicep, then entered the right side of his chest just above the nipple. The only explanation of that is Brown’s right arm was extended, not raised above his head.
There’s an old saying that goes something like this:
“If you find yourself at the bottom of a hole, stop digging”
It’s sound guidance.
Shoot-to-stop is a process performed by one person and one person alone. No you. Not me. The PO fired his weapon until he stopped the attacker.
Again, end of story.
Sod off, calling Brown the attacker.
