Discussion: Mich. Sen. Accused Of Shooting At His Ex-Wife's Car While Naked

Discussion for article #236246

Investigators found several suspected bullet holes in Smith’s ex-wife vehicle, according to the Detroit News.

Given the ancillary information, what else would have created these holes, “suspected” to be bullet holes? Unless, perhaps the car was coincidentally being used as habitat by a new species of sheet-metal boring beetle.

Why in gawd’s name would you allow your ex to stay with you? Especially when your girlfriend is there?
Gee, an argument developed, so you do something STUPID (I mean besides allowing your ex to stay) and shoot her car? Naked or not, why ?

Because guns…why not?

Stay classy, Detroit.

I was going to go with a subspecies of woodpecker–the dreaded Michigan Metelpecker. It a somewhat unusual phallic appear bird that’s oddly related to a very specific kind of rabbit.

He’s a STATE senator. Fix it please–I voted for Gary Peters, but him naked is not something I want to think about. Whereas the state senate offices practically come with stripper poles.

I dunno. 'Coz people engage in weird behavior sometimes. My mother told me a story about my uncle [by marriage] who was inclined towards frequent use of alcoholic beverages. He and my aunt rented out one of their rooms to a single woman. One day, my uncle got liquored up and decided, in his delirium, that the woman he was renting do was a “slattern” and a threat to the sanctity of their home. While still in his pajamas he grabbed his shotgun and proceeded to evict her on the spot, chasing her out of the house and down the road while still in his lounge wear.

I had another uncle, a Welshman, who was perturbed by a sheep that was eating the vegetables out of his garden. After several such depredations, he lost his temper and bludgeoned the animal to death, after which he was brought up on charges by the local constabulary, of “murdering a sheep”. He was forced to pay restitution, but the family was very embarrassed because it was written up in “The South Wales Echo” in a “what will the neigbours say?” kind of news article.

Michigan state Sen. Virgil Smith (D)

Thanks for being right up front about political affiliation. After the Don Plusquellic fiasco, it’s appreciated.

“Police said it was an automatic weapon…” Shouldn’t the guns nuts be attacking this line? Saying Semi-Automatic!!! weapon?

It’s the “naked” that makes it art.

Arguing in the heat of the moment is one thing - particularly when exes and new girl/boyfriends are added into the mix. But once someone starts firing guns, it changes the whole thing.
I don’t know exactly what happened - whether the ex was invited or barged in as the state Senator alleges - but him reaching for a gun instead of the phone was DUMB.

You said “gun nuts” … heh.

One has to wonder what Michigan state Sen. Virgil Smith (D) was doing naked with a gun…I mean…is not like he is an “ammosexual teabagger” or something like that.

Life imitating life :

Richard Pryor may he Rest In Peace :

" The following month, on New Year’s Eve, he took a gun and shot up his wife’s car when she tried to leave him. In 1979"

This is my rifle, this is my gun.
One is for shooting, one is for fun.
Don’t mistake one for the other.

Since when has it been illegal to shot a car while naked ? That is a basic human right.

Nice people doing nice things.
