I would think that the president would be the person to run down to the border of Mexico to defend it. After all, wasn’t he going to run into the high school in Parkland Florida, unarmed to boot?

After Trump’s vile xenophobic, racist rhetoric about one of America’s former allies the Mexican President’s response was not a blast. It was a demonstration of civility and decency utterly lacking in America’s so-called President. Hurry Mueller. Hurry November. This is pretty obviously the decline and fall of American world leadership. What other country will trust, let alone follow, America anytime in the next twenty years? Leaders elsewhere are pulling their punches, but I am pretty sure citizens in Mexico are almost universally nauseated by Trump as they are in most countries around the planet – he has insulted almost daily every one of us in turn.
The main problem is that Trump blowback is causing a Chaves-like populist candidate to get ahead by 18 points in the presidential. And Mexico does not have a run-off, a candidate can get elected with 35% of the vote like Pendejo Pena Nieto did.
