I own the W.U.T. and that’s not it. That is, however, one ugly tie.

I have never been so shocked to see “gun” and UK in the same sentence. Condolences to MP Jo Cox family and friends.Prior to 2015 she was a former head of policy for Oxfam. Damn
Two thoughts on this:
Why isn’t this being labelled a right wing terrorist attack with calls for restrictions on right wing fanatics freedoms?
With very limited access to guns, when will the NRA start using this as an example of why gun control laws won’t prevent mass shootings?
This is absolutely horrifying…go off to work in the morning and get shot doing your job. So sad. My heart goes out to her family.
So sad. Sending heartfelt condolences to her husband and children.
This is awful! I am reminded of the attack on my Congresswoman Gabby Giffords who was badly injured in an assassination attempt several years ago. Six were killed and several besides Gabby were injured. One of the dead was a neighbor of mine. Of course some will say “Now is not the time to talk about gun control” Seems it never is the time. And this latest incident happened in Britain where it’s darn hard to get hold of a gun! There are lots of restrictions on who can possess a gun there. No 2nd amendment.
OK, Has that smiley faced beer drinker got a name?
I read on another site that the alleged killer, Thomas Mair, worked at a place that specialized in hiring the mentally ill.
Amazingly like a lot of our domestic terrorists. Relatively unhealthy looking white male in a camo-print jacket…
The correct journalistic term is “assassination.” Jo Cox, a Member of Parliament, was assassinated this morning. TPM please use the correct terminology when an elected official is murdered for purely political reasons.
There seems to be a lot of anxiety in Europe over the economic slump, and demagogues are stirring up passions over immigration.
I think the movement among Brits to exit the European Union is a symptom of this malaise.
Nigel Farage
Nigel is quite the character it seems. Member of the European Parliament yet against the European Union. Now, I confess to being no kind of expert on British or European politics but that juxtaposition seems strange to me.
It is actually quite common in EU, here in Denmark ms. Rina Ronja Kari from “Folkebevægelsen mod EU” (literally: "The People’s movement against EU) is a member of the EU Parliament.
It may be common as you say but still on its face the logic is very strange to me. Especially when Nigel quit his conservative party over the very idea of a European Union but is a member of that parliament. I’ll be in Europe in about 10 days time and so I can plumb this idea further by speaking to locals if they want to discuss the subject.
It is like a man enrolling in a all-male golf-club, so he can work for changing the statutes to allow women in.
They also get first-hand knowledge of the planned legislation, so they can try to change it, they are, indeed, part of the lawmakers.
Have a nice trip,
Except that Nigel is not s liberally thinking guy.
Thanks …we wlii be visiting Granville, France to see 2 stages of the atour de France and consume some excellent sea food
