Discussion: Melania Trump Removes Language About Her 'Brand' From Defamation Suit

Seems to me this fits the punchline to the old joke… “We’ve already established [what you are]. Now we’re just haggling over the price.”

Donald Trump has filed or been sued once a week for his entire adult
life (over 3,500 suits)… Why being President would he stop ??
The Guy is a scam artist, nothing more, nothing less.

It is true - He’s using Theils lawyer Charles Harder. Maddow did a long segment on it

While Trump is notoriously litigious, the Melania Trump lawsuit seems more in line with a typical Trump lawsuit rather than the Hogan-Gawker lawsuit, even if the same lawyer who helped Hogan beat Gawker is also representing Melania. Thiel had a very specific personal grudge against Gawker that motivated his initially representation of Hogan, and that just isn’t present with Trump’s more general disagreement with or demonizing of the media, which perhaps is greater in amplitude than all past presidents, but only by degree.

So, what was once an open pursuit of personal profiteering is now a covert pursuit?

But can they reference it? @tena? @ncsteve? Anyone?

Welp, that photo proves it: her arms aren’t early as nice and toned as Michelle’s.

Speaking of brands.

We have established what you are, Melania. Now we are merely haggling over the wording.

Or, more pertinently, the baby Shetland pony.

The only thing I can say about this is that without a prospect of future income loss, there is no cause of action.

If the suit isn’t pursued, it will be dismissed for lack of prosecution. If it’s tried, it won’t go anywhere like this - there’s nothing at all there.

You have to be able to show you have been damaged in some way and if she has no financial interest in the office, she can’t claim she’s losing prospective income - she isn’t entitled to any.

Not surprising. He’s a media attorney with a track record of success.

Chuck Harder? I didn’t know it was possible!

Including Donald Trump, why do all these people have names that sound moves in a dominance game?

She “ruined” her brand when she put it out for all to see. If she were smart, she would just raise her kid and find some type of worthy charity project like all the ladies who lunch and let it go. She might then be able to land another rich husband or get some over-paid gigs talking about life as a modern first lady.

Seriously? Like when she recited that plagiarized speech at the RNC? Or when she held the bible(s) for her spouses inauguration? Or when she promoted various product lines with her name splashed all over them? Or when she posed for various magazine while acting as various sorts of models? Or when she voluntarily married a known-to-be-vile reality TV star who had made his whole life performance art? She has put herself in the spotlight every day of her adult life.

That she has regrets now is understandable, but this is the bed she made herself and we don’t have to pretend she didn’t know she would have to lie in it.

There is a big difference between making fun of some weird, not-based in reality version of Michelle, and mocking the choices of the current first lady - and yes, for a model who has posed nude and obviously had lots of “work” done on her body and face, that includes her appearance, which is the only basis of her career and her supposed business.

For the record I do feel just a bit sorry for her, I mean it’s hard not to believe she didn’t think she’d signed up for this ride. I’m sure she hoped to be profitably divorced from a reality TV persona long before now, and get to enjoy being with her son, whom she does appear to love.

Funny, I thought it died in Mississippi.

A model who catches a much older, allegedly rich guy? How is this not the definition of a hooker?

Unless she’d still be with this asshole when he’s penniless and living in the streets…
