Discussion: Melania And Barron Trump Won't Move To White House Right Away

Nothing screams “I raise my kids right” like lying about earning a college degree and plagiarizing an entire speech from the previous first lady.

You’re doing a bang-up job, Melania. Barron will be getting his grift on by puberty.

So as president-elect you still wouldn’t move your kids even if that “choice” means you have taxpayers pick up the massive tab to implement heightened security measures to protect your Yuuuge Tower and the highly-populated surrounding area? It has already posed massive challenges to Fifth Ave traffic and businesses as well.

The White House exists for a reason. You ran for President, and you should have known what it takes and what you would have to sacrifice.

I wonder if his middle name is Von.

Gawd, who would? First spouse is a far worse job than VP is. You have to show up for everything.

He absence will mess with the protocol staff when a world leader arrives with a spouse in tow.

Damn, that kid creeps me out.

It is not clear to me that he’s planning on serving long enough to make it worth unpacking and hiring the very best gilders to cover every inch of the millwork and the wood on all the furniture with gold leaf.

Once upon a time, I was a professor at a research university not located in a cultural hub. Our Regents hired a President whose wife despised the town. She chose to live about 200 miles away, in a place where the climate and cultural amenities better suited her refined sensibilities. She would return to campus on those occasions where her presence was mandatory, and leave immediately afterward.

Maybe that’s how Melanoma is going to handle it? Or maybe Mike Pence’s wife will get drafted into the diplomatic role. (I know, she doesn’t have the ‘rank’ required, but does Melanoma have the gravitas to do the job? I don’t think so: when I looked up declassé in my mobile dictionary I found this. (Def NSFW, folks.)

Yeah but, " we paid extra for Michelle’s mother to live in the White House" or so a rabid Trump supporter noted on another board. And, Melania is " as good as it gets" in terms of First Ladies. I kid you not.

He definitely won’t be in the White House on Cinco de Mayo – gotta run back to T-rump Tower for the taco bowl. Taxpayer cost: $48 for the taco bowl; $3.2 million for transportation and security; and $18.2 million for disruptions to people living/working/travelling in or near the tower.

It doesn’t matter… Barron will be able to get elected for president in a few years, even after the inept presidency of his father and and the african levels of thievery committed by his older bros… and yes Americans are that stupid.

It’s not like he will not be aware of where every single one of them is staying. And that’s just one little aspect of the enormous conflicts of interest and corruption in a hundred ways that are obviously part of the Trump deal.

Here’s a book we’d better all be reading before His Orangeness takes the oath of office. In fact, I wonder if we could get a price break to send 535 copies to Capitol Hill.

Thieves of State: Why Corruption Threatens Global Security

I wonder if they’re having some epic fights right now. She’ has nothing to gain and everything to lose as First Lady.

Bottom line, it’ll be tougher for Melania to get a secure line to Fancy Bear from the White House than Trump Tower. /sarcasm

To the rest of you, knock it off on Barron. Minor children are off limits. Poor kid didn’t choose his deplorable parents.

Well, at least he won’t be cutting brush all the time…

hey, they’ll move in after he finishes school is like saying he’ll show his taxes after the audits. i am waiting.

So when he’s run out by all the white gun owners that voted for him, but he screws, they won’t get shot too?

More like shaving bush…

This was a matter of common conversation in DC during the Obama transition. As the father of three children and seven grandchildren, it seems to me that the concerns of both Michelle Obama and Melania Trump are reasonable, and I think we look like jerks - or worse - criticizing Ms.Trump for a not wanting to pull her son out of school mid-year and being concerned about the move.
