Again, Trump hires inexperienced loud mouths.
“Hardly-charging Lawyer”? Trump is typically tight with money. Even celebrity apprentices were only getting a bit over $5000 an episode to appear, when Trump was making $3 million per rebroadcastable and globally distributable episode.
I wonder if they will share a cell someday?
He may be a competent, hard charging litigator but is going to be facing a level of complexity with the government inquiries that he isn’t equipped to handle. Though Trump came into office not knowing how a constitutional democracy, or for that matter, how the world works. And so far it’s worked out pretty well.
And Axios reporting Dubke is leaving.
See, what the article says to me is this guy is a china shop bull who has lost all these high-profile cases. Going after a reporter is one thing; going after the FBI is quite another.
[quote]In a separate case,[Kasowitz] represented a company controlled by a Russian oligarch, Oleg Deripaska, who has close ties to Vladimir Putin…
Ethics experts have expressed concern about Kasowitz’s Russian clients creating both the appearance of and the actual presence of a conflict of interest…
“Could there be some line of communication between these clients and the White House?” Campaign Legal Center general counsel Larry Noble asked on CNN. “Is there any situation where the interests of one conflicts with the other?

So, let me get this straight. Drumpfie & Co are being investigated about possible dirty dealings with the Russians with possible direct lines to Putin. So he hires an attorney who’s working with some Russians, including one with close ties to Putin. WTF???
Question (more or less rhetorical): has Drumpfie ever done ANYTHING that is CLEAN???
From the litany of failures described in the piece it sounds like this guy is more of a personality match for Trump than a lawyer who’s actually, you know, good. I’ve seen a few lawyers at work and the loud, blustery ones aren’t always the smartest, most skilled, or likeliest to win. But of course we’re talking about Trump here. Not the quickest learner, that boy.
You can’t really judge Kasowitz based on his win-loss record for Trump, since it’s likely that Trump insists on bringing some of these lawsuits despite his attorney’s advice that he can’t win. The O’Brien libel claim is a case in point. Any first year attorney would have warned Trump that (a) he would b forced to turn over tax returns and financial records and (b) he would have to demonstrate actual malice since he’s a public figure. Undoubtedly, Kasowitz advised him to that effect, and probably added, “but it’s your money”.
Kasowitz’s inexperience in these matters and his general thuggishness and will not go unrecognized by government prosecutors and he will likely end up with another giant star — possibly is biggest — in his LOSE column.
BTW: I see our little troll friend is back. Thirty-third incarnation if my tally is correct.
Great news for the anti-trump forces. He is a Tony Galento type lawyer, windmilling so much his chin will be left open for a few hooks that will knock him out. I predict he lasts about 3 months after serious litigation, from whatever source, begins, as stupid Jared & Ivanka realize that that he is doing his client as much good as William Ginsberg did his. By the way, sooner or later one of the Trump chumps will hire Plato Cacheris or Brenden Sullivan— guys who remain classy while defending assholes.
“Now, selected to defend Trump against allegations of collusion with Russia to influence the 2016 election, Kasowitz’s own connections to Russian banks and oligarchs may soon come under scrutiny.”
Just to clarify: as all of us who have been following this story know, “colluding with Russia” is only one of the central allegations that are being made against Trump. The other one, the one that will likely be much easier to prove, is of financial impropriety–money laundering and the like. But it sounds as if this lawyer has a lot of hands-on experience in this area as well.
There will also likely be the charges of obstruction of justice to deal with.
This “hard charging lawyer” is going to have his hands full.
“And Axios reporting Dubke is leaving”
Well, what do you know? Apparently he has just resigned.

“As part of the shake-up, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer will reportedly hold on to his position, but there will be fewer media briefings.” That should definitely help!
I can’t argue with that. But I still think it’s a personality match and the more judicious and scrupulous lawyers would be less appealing to Trump, who likes to bring or at least threaten lawsuits against people with less money who’ve annoyed him by doing stuff like writing the truth about him or asking to be paid for their work. Birds of a feather, I’ve found that’s one of your truer truisms.
Hard-charging, or bull-in-a-china-shop? Representing a client like Trump in a situation such as the present requires intelligence, mastery of detail, a thorough knowledge of the applicable law, creativity, and political skills (in the sense of being able to deal with people who have very different agendas and points of view). Does Kasowitz have that, or is he like his client, who has none of those qualities.
All of Trump’s people are “YES MEN” all the way, so why make your assumptions?

In da haouse!
Translation: I’m mad that German intelligence agencies have turned over tapes and other records to the US.
This guy has to know President Kompromat’s dealings with the Russians, in some form or another. Will attorney /client privilege save him here?
I see this move more in the vein of a cover up. Trump is bringing all his capos closer to the fire so they can’t slink away and cut a deal.
Yeah, that’s right, not 200 days in, and the Potemkin President is desperately trying to form a criminal defense team without appearing to do so. I bet all his conspirators suddenly “join” his defense team.
Heck, Napolean had Elba. Maybe they will someday refer to Guantanamo as “Trump Jail”.
