Discussion: Meet The Anti-Refugee 'Hate' Group That Just Landed In The US From Finland

Thought Finns were not technically Scandinavians? Aren’t they related to Turks? Aren’t Finns banned by Finnish law from expressing emotions, ever? Don’t you hate people who ask question after question with no real point?

Just remember, the ONLY Axis power to NOT be occupied after WWII was Finland. We should not repeat that mistake after the next WW.

Pitcavage told TPM that one of the more confounding aspects of the new Soldiers of Odin group in the U.S. is that the organization seems to bring together both white nationalist and anti-government factions. The various extremist groups have typically kept their distance from one another, but the anti-Muslim sentiment appears to have united the previously incongruent groups in recent years.

Really? I mean I’m sure that the ADL pays closer attention to this stuff then I do, but at least going by most news reporting I have seen over the years anti-government and white supremacists groups have seemed to have a decent bit of overlap for as long as I can remember. Maybe not to the point of being interchangeable, but at least enough that the idea of them teaming up wouldn’t be something I would describe as confounding or incoungruent.

Thank you! I was just reading through the comments to see if anybody else asked before I did.

Not yet that I can tell, fortunately, as I have family/friends up there still. Lots of Finnish descendants yes, but the UP is a ghost town now that the mines are closed. They won’t suffer idiots like this messing with their tourism industry, needing every single paying visitor they can get, regardless of background.

someone needs to alert The Donald certain he will make a speech to not allow them into the country what a joke The Republican Party is Get Out The vote we have to stop them

“We all know that many of the Muslim refugees are causing massive amounts of crime, in particular sexual assault and rape of women and children.”

So, any evidence for that? Any at all?

And I’m not asking for a list of petty crimes that have been pinned on refugees - that’s not what the statement presents as ‘fact’.

Lauren, you might want to at least mention if there’s any supporting evidence for anything this new group of ‘conservative’ bedwetters is afraid of.

It used to be called “reporting”. Apparently now it’s called “you go Google it”…

You know what marshmallows and snow have in common? They’re both…white!

Had to check to see if I had Scandinavian census population numbers accurate…and sure enough, the Finns are still up there in greater numbers than anywhere else in the country.

There’s a newer map for 2012 that shows even more Finnish up there than in 2000, the only difference is they seem to be having a demographic shift, moving to northern states west of Minnesota like N. Dakota, Montana, Idaho and Washington in greater numbers.

You got my point.

I’m sure the cross-burning crowd would say it’s not hate…they just need something to roast those marshmallows with.

They go together Like Stahlhelm and National Socialists.

These people are immigrating here to launch protests against immigrants? Have they never heard of irony?

I love this.

Does anyone else see the irony in a bunch of non-citizens who came in here from another country stirring up hate against non-citizens who are coming here from other countries?

And this, a thousand times this:

"“In their short existence so far, the Soldiers of Odin USA have spent
most of their energy on recruiting, organization and trying to obtain
Soldiers of Odin shirts and jackets—something in which it is clear
members place great stock.”

Ooh, another group of idiots who will quickly be sued into bankruptcy.

Hmmmm …let’s see …

Anti-immigrant hate group immigrates from Finland to disrupt American communities where no trouble existed.

I think we’ve identified the culprit.

I think in the Venn diagram of both, there would be a lot of overlap.

I was gonna be snarky but, really, these knuckle draggers dont’t seem nice. What would they feel were the shoe (or jackboot in this case) on the other foot?

I don’t really see the humor seeing as hatred isn’t all that funny… stupidity on thebother hand…
And the irony of course…

" In its patrol in Colorado, the group actually met to deliver food to the homeless."

So how many homeless do you have to feed before you get cleared of being KKK inclined?
