Unfortunately, this suggestion (while 100% valid) has been on the table since his inauguration. Coulda, shoulda, woulda is likely as close as we’re ever going to get. Very unfortunate, but T rump has surrounded himself with people who ultimately put their own self-interest above the good of the nation.

Its already an ominous sign that McMaster and Mattis are probably the only ones in this administration with full security clearances. That must mean they’re unwelcome in any of tRump’s closed-door security sessions with all the other folks who’ve only received interim clearances at best. Those folks can come and go as they please, whereas McMaster and Mattis are most likely the next ones on chopping block. I heard today that even Sarah Huckster Sanders doesn’t have a full security clearance to date.
I can see them using it to save face. It gives the committed MAGA type guy an excuse to tell everyone that Trump screwed them. I can see it coming.

The challenge and obligation for Dems now is to tie the entire Republican Party and their support for Trump to these indictments, and to this act of war by Russia against the United States. If you voted for T rump, or supported T rump after he became POTUS, that was an act of aiding and abetting the enemy. We must not let them live this down.

I have a couple in mind in my circles. It will be interesting to see how they go. I suspect the cock crows thrice routine is not too far down the road. Not that I will ever let them forget they were ardent supporters despite all evidence and logic. But I bear grudges. People tell me that is not a good thing, I don’t.
Maybe we can get a Ken Burns style documentary covering the self-deluded portions of our culture that allowed all of this to happen.

And sure as day follows night, tRump in a late night tweet dressed down McMaster for his ‘audacity’ to make a firm statement of what happened with Russia’s meddling. As predicted, McMaster put himself squarely in tRump’s crosshairs with his comment. I guess that initial loyalty pledge only goes so far these days…Sucks to be you, tRump. I believe Putin. Trump has been actually asking him if he himself personally meddled. If the personal pronouns in translated russian werent bad enough, the word Trump used for meddle literally meant “vote wrong” in russian. Sad!
