“the White House asked McGahn to make a public statement declaring Trump didn’t try to obstruct the Russia probe”
Isn’t McGahn supposed to provide evidence instead of making judgement?
McGahn: “I’m not felony-loyal, bro’…”
The criminality and obstruction continues while Republicans play the fiddle ("it’s over!).
What this country needs is for the President to hijack the annual non-partisan July 4th celebration on the Mall and turn it into a rally for “our favorite President.”
That will fix us.
Obstruction of justice and witness tampering in plain view. No shame a duh face!
McGahn is a relatively young man. He probably wants to continue to make a living for a few more years #everythingdonaldjtrumptouchesturnstosht
Well there goes his seat on SCOTUS
Apparently McGahn did not want to test the line between political spin and aiding and abetting Trump’s obstruction of justice.
So does either the NYT or the WSJ report who made “the ask”? I’m only interested because to my non-lawyer mind the person that tries to get someone to commit perjury is an accomplice, right?
When Trump’s net of obstruction starts to unravel, a lot of people will be asking @tena for an apology for our being so gloomy about Trump.
Trump is DONE.
He is like a “king” on an island nation. An island nation of willing subjects, slavish subordinates and seeming unlimited power…which is slowly going underwater, as the sea rises to meet the Despot.
McGahn, resignedly: “Alright, already! I hereby announce that the White House asked me last month to say publicly that President Trump didn’t obstruct justice.”
McGahn, looking at Chiselin’ Trump: “There! I said it. Are you happy now?”
It’s important to remember that McGahn too is a Ghouliani-level sleazeball. The only difference is that his slime trail is less visible. That doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
Um, that would be “an island surrounded by water, big water, ocean water.”
Well, I think either Lawrence O’Donnell or Steve Kornacky had Paul Butler (former AUSA, Prof at Georgetown Law) on and he made exactly this point, that McGahn, being a Civil Lawyer, probably has very little in the way of accumulated experience enabling him to make an educated intuitive assessment of what Trump asked. But it does sound to me like McGahn thinks what Trump did was a campaign of attempted obstruction. Culminating with Barr’s handling of “His Baby.”
Wouldn’t bother me a bit…
Any time someone starts thinking McGahn is some kind of hero, recall that he personally shepherded the appointments of Gorsuch and Kavanaugh.
Still have the question of when the Great Wall of Republicans starts to crack, or if.
