Discussion for article #232968

Huh. It turns out that McConnell and the GOP really aren’t good at governing. And this is news, because…?

" “I think it’s a rather, honestly, absurd position to say that, ‘We object to the bill but we don’t want to debate the bill or change the bill.’ So, I’m perplexed,” he said, responding to a question from TPM. “I think it’s a pretty hard argument to make with a straight face.” "

He said that with a straight face?

Soon he gets rid of the filibuster altogether and heads back into the minority where he stays a long, long time.

9 Cubans just landed in Miami off the Beach.

QUICK - Someone ask Marco Rubio why they get to stay but no one else does and why he’s trying to prevent immigration reform along with his boys in the Senate.

As the saying goes - you reap what you sow.

He should go back 6 years to this date and recall all the legislation he and his idiotic caucus filibustered. There were lots of chances to sit down and compromise but no; he promised instead to make Obama a one term president by filibustering and frustrating every piece of legislation, no matter how relevant. Bringing the country to its knees just to spite Obama.

There’s something called KARMA and it can be a b>>ch.

Enjoy, asshat.

I think they all are - Imagine Cruz criticizing Obama because he claims Obama’s policies have only aided the 1%.

But its getting to be more chutzpah than irony.

It seems the GOP is doing all it can to cement Obama’s legacy as the Anti-Reagan. Which is a good thing. Gee they filibustered. How dare they? ASSHAT.

Nothing good will happen until the voters realize that the Gop/baggers are no longer the loyal opposition party willing to govern in our names…they have “EVOLVED”(hehehe) into an anti-American, anti-patriotic party bent on the destruction of our Established Constitutional Government…Grover Norquist has stated time and time again, the goal of the gop is to kill our government…Treason? Sedition? When Bin Laden talked about destroying the “monster” I think Grove took him at his word…The GOP has become the Enemy from Within…

All three times, Democrats united to filibuster it, stopping it dead in its tracks, and leaving Republicans empty-handed.

Doesn’t happen often enough. Good for Dems for sticking together.

Wasn’t there some bill that McConnell himself sponsored and then voted against? Is that the kind of absurd position he is talking about?

The President holds all the cards here. The Rs want deportations and those cost money to carry out. No money, no deportations.

Show us you can lead, Mitch, show us you can lead.

Hilarious that the Dems are doing exactly what the GOP did when they were in the minority and McConnell is flummoxed by the tactic.

Put forward a bill that can pass and you’ll see a bill pass the Senate. Continue to pander to your base and you will continue to see filibuster after filibuster and more and more veto promises by Obama. The Senate will likely flip back to the Dems in 2016.

Vision . . . . Reps have none. They see no further than the tips of their noses. It is why they can’t govern. To spend 6 years filibustering everything in site . . . . . and then be flummoxed that the Dems might actually use a similar tactic. Truely pathetic. And tragic. Because it might take a generation for the Rep party to convince themselves that compromise is the heart of governing. But in the mean time we are looking at years more of this stupidity.
