Mitch is sooooooooo jealous!
Where oh where is that bus named Karma? So long overdue here.
Wuss Wuss Wuss
Mitch is still holding out for Trump’s first choice: The Kremlin.
I looked up Feckless Prick in the dictionary…

This is very strange to me. I would think McConnell would be jumping at the chance to rename the building for his colleague. Why is he being so coy? Is he scared he’ll piss off his wife’s boss??
Do not rename that building.
Richard Russell was a great Democrat from Georgia who did a lot of good for the military as Chairman of the Armed Services committee during that nasty Viet Nam war. Introducing civil rights legislation would have been the kiss of death for him 60 years ago. It is important to continue to honor Georgia Democrats and their proud history and to put that Republican team representing Georgia in Washington right now to shame.
The only thing that McConnell will ever deserve to have named for himself is a toilet, preferably the dirtiest one in the Washington subway system.
This is a tough dilemma for the Turtle. Does he rename the building for a highly admired Republican colleague, or retain its name in honor of a Democrat opposed to civil rights? What to do?! He is faced with the responsibility to limit our progress as a nation, after all. And yet, he is a Republican who should take this opportunity to remove a Democratic Senator’s name from an office building, regardless of his racist policies. Tough decision. Support racism, or support an upstanding citizen and war hero? I’m glad i’m not Mitch McConnell.
I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for Yertle to develop a spine.
McConnell will only get a prison named after him — preferably his cell he dies in.
With McConnell’s Senate setting new records for party politics and partisan rules and rulings, the Senate Office Building should be renamed with a Democrat and a Republican…to remind McConnell this is a two party system.
The Edward Kennedy and John McCain Senate Office Building. Maybe the Republicans will realize they represent less than 1/2 the population…the Democrats took 53% of the vote across all Senate seats in 2016 to 45% for Republicans. More than 4.5 million greater votes went to Democrats.
It’s a tough decision for a Republican - in order to honor McCain by renaming the Russell Building, McConnell would have to support unnaming it after an unapologetic lifetime segregationist. What kind of Republican would want to do that?
The minute the Democrats take over Congress, Yertle the turtle will be screaming to rename it.
And then blame them if they don’t.
Every time I think there’s a bottom to McConnell’s depravity and cravenness, I am reminded that there is in fact no bottom. There’s no core principle or belief. Just the pursuit of power to help friends and hamstring enemies.
It is a close call. Do Republicans keep the office dedication to a racist and segregationist, or re-dedicate it to a patriot and war hero? I guess it’s not such a close call after all. Sorry, Senator McCain.
Kind of O/T, but Josh’s latest edblog on McCain is one of the finest things of his I think I’ve ever read. Go read it right now and then do it again.
Jennifer Rubin had a great proposal today in her WaPo column:
First, every school in America named after a Confederate historical figure should be renamed for McCain. We should not be honoring those who took up arms against the United States, but rather someone who endured unimaginable agony on our behalf and then spent the rest of his life in service to America.
Your last line says it all—scared to piss off Individual 1. And, kompromat.
ETA—remember, it wasn’t just the Democratic National Committee HQ that was hacked by Russian military intelligence, the fearsome GRU: they also hacked the RNC. Difference being, they only released the DNC’s private correspondence and information.
