One of the biggest hurdles I’ve had these last few years is coming to the realization that some people truly do not give one shit about self-respect. Certain types of people, it’s simply a non-factor, a non-issue for them. It’s not compartmentalization, either. Mitch McConnell does not give one fuck that he keeps his seat because of gerrymandering, which is why he’s worth shit as a public servant.

McConnell is a Senator. He runs state-wide. Gerrymandering is impossible on his election.

People are upset about a lot of stuff related to the ellection. For example I’m upset with how you supressed the public release of information on the Russian’s intervention on Trump’s behalf prior to the ellection in exchange for your wife getting a Cabinet seat. And I’m even more upset that not only was that not brought up during her confirmation hearing, but that she was confirmed 93-6.
Mitch is learning what it is like to front for a government which has lost its legitimacy if it ever had it. First, a candidate with fewer votes than his opponent is handed the office through a technicality of the Electoral College. Then we learn that the Russians were interfering in the election. The House is thoroughly gerrymandered. Voter suppression is enacted wholesale in Republucan run states. The voters are told lies which some of them swallow. Then the new inhabitant of the Oval Office demands unity and applause for following his campaign positions which for a large part were rejected by more people in the first place. Then his first major endeavor is an unconstitutional bigoted travel ban and he muffs the roll out of that. To add insult to injury, Trump’s spokespeople are all over the media lying through their teeth.
Mitch can’t expect to see happy voters anytime soon.

It does interact with Senate races as I think about it. It is less likely that there will be an effective Democratic Party in a district gerrymandered against them which will make statewide races more difficult.
McConnell is a giant piece of shit. It’ll feel great to be part of the movement to throw his rotten arrogant ass out of the Senate. LOL.
You wake up one morning and you notice a drunk is at the wheel driving recklessly. Meanwhile the idiots who are oblivious to the risk are saying give him a chance. They are saying we should wait for the wreck that is sure to come before we take his hands from the wheel. This of course is insane. It’s like knowing in advance that 9/11, Iraq invasion, Katrina and the Great Recession are all going to come and not doing something preemptively to avoid it while we still can.
