Discussion: McConnell Sounds Positive On Funding Deal, Calls Compromise ‘Good News’

You still have to get it past Coulter, Hannity and their puppet, Dotard, Yertle…

Good luck with that.

Hannity has already said no to it, so it’s only a matter of time.

The next shutdown will belong squarely on Trump and McConnell’s shoulders.

I remind that one of my daughter’s high school friends is now a contractor in a Federal agency. She has been instructed by her political appointee management to prepare for this shutdown to last through the end of March of this year. Minimum.

What’s the over/under on how many hours before McTurtle reverses himself?

What this really means is that Turtle has had Collins, Gardner, Tillis, McSalley (now with a class act, HUGEEEE opponent in Kelly), Earnst, Coryn etc (all up in 2020) and a few others telling him they are not taking a bullet, and he had best get this bill through, or they will support a clean opening.

McConnell may be an evil mutherfucker, but he can count the votes.

Shorter Yertle the Turtle: “Don’t veto this, Donnie. We have the votes to override and humiliate you.”

“… Hannity labeling it garbage”

Looks as if trump is not the only one with a projection problem, eh?

Lacking and Garbage - perfect monikers for Meadows and Hannity.

I think McConnell is happy to put this in Trump’s lap …

Like a big bowl of hot soup.

Actually, I would bet that Collins has only told McConnell that she is “concerned”.

Yeah I am pretty sure that is right.

Have we impeached the motherfucker yet?

Trump should trust Ainsley Earhardt’s judgment on this and sign the bill. She needs to clear this from her schedule so she can get on with engineering the mission to Mars and reconfiguring our Asian trade agreements.

I think it’s Hannity who’s in trouble here. F&F got in line with the program. It looks like McConnell is going to allow a vote, and if trump vetoes the bill, any resulting shutdown will be a result of the president caving to one assh*le at fox news. My hope is that trump is forced to sign it, by advisors holding both hands if need be, and then goes on a twitter war against Hannity for trying to push him into a shutdown.

That’s my read on it too.

GOPers are starting to sound off that they got what they wanted in this deal…probably because that’s all they’re gonna get if they don’t accept the deal being offered. They have to play like tRump came out on top.

tRump is getting exactly what they passed the first time around, before the first shutdown, but they can’t let their constituents or tRump’s cult followers realize they’re right back at the beginning from where they came. I read that even McCarthy is playing along now throwing in a fib or two for good measure of course.

That “Finish the Wall” thing was the first clue that tRump and the GOP are stuck and have to move past this or it’ll be curtains for tRump and his party. Pretending the fucking wall has already been built is about the best they can do now. Pure delusion and wishful thinking, but frankly, it’s what they do. It would be laughable if it didn’t put so many people out of work for no good reason and cost the country unnecessarily for tRump’s self-aggrandizing fantasies.

No, that’s not accurate. Yertle the Turtle is ensuring any Trump veto means a government shutdown is entirely Don the Con’s fault.

I agree. Sentient GOPers know Don the Con’s cultists are stupid, ignorant, ill-informed, delusional, and poorly educated. Trump and his GOP lackeys will just brazenly and repeatedly lie they won and the wall is being built, and these idiots will accept it.

I think it matters more that Trump really got burned on the shutdown. Nancy shamed him, and shame is agonizingly painful for him. To me the question is whether he declares an emergency or not. There’s very little downside for him there. (There is for the nation and our way of life, but that’s not on his list of priorities.) So does he swallow this and spin it like always, or does he go the declaration route and wash his hands of it?
