Good luck with that,
Lindsey Graham will undermine McConnell in a minute or twoâŚ
âIâve just been pointing out what an impractical idea the emergency route is,â Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) told Politico, adding that there is a â99 percent likelihoodâ that the courts would block a national emergency declaration.
What are the chances that weâll be seeing an error-ridden tweet about his judges taking care of the emergency declaration. Why put judges in place if theyâre going to use a metric other than what Trump wants?
The reality is that if pushed, at last thirteen republicans will vote for a clean funding bill (I.e. w/o wall funding) provided the Democrats agree to substantial âborder security fundingâ. And if McConnell does not give them a vote they may rebel or will face the consequences in 2020. Even someone like John Cornyn (up in tx in 2020) is sounding scared. He hears betoâs footsteps behind him.
The reality is that McConnell has been backed into a corner by his slavish support of trump, and have aided trumpâs craziness, is starting to have to pay a major price for it.
A plan b (a fake emergency) polls worse than holding firm for a wallâŚfun times.
Nobody puts the baby in a corner.
Somewhere in the White House hangs a sign that reads: When youâve lost McConnell, youâre screwed.â
McConnell only cares about the optics of ramming corporate friendly judges while government is shut down.
McConnell does not have the spine or the testicles to override a veto. He is compromised.
Stop pushing him into a corner, McYertle, and push him out the door!
Besides Drumpf, McConnell is the least trustworthy person in AmericaâŚwhich means he just might do the sensible thing because of the caveat âBesides Drumpfâ.
McConnell is not insane.
Just Evil
McConnell is not looking forward to being kicked by the mule again.
Means nothing. If Trump decides to do it, Yurtle will follow orders just like the rest of them.
McConnell will prop up Trump where he can, and not where he canât. This is pretty clearly a canât IMHO.
Good Lord!(grabs chest)⌠Oh dear⌠I agree with Mitch ⌠govern by shut down sucks. It means those clowns arenât doing their jobs. Remember when we had annual budgets? When compromise, which was frequently acrimonious, was the glue that held government together?
Democrats on the conference committee arenât going to give the orange shit-gibbon his wall, especially not after his month-long temper tantrum, so McTurtle is stuck between a spoiled toddler and some really bad polls. Heâll err on the side of the polls.
So tRump can shove his wall back where it came from.
Heâs going to declare an emergency because, in the end, he doesnât give a shit about anyone, but what else is new?
Nice to see that McConnell has at least that much sense but that wonât influence Trump in the slightest. Trump wants what he wants even if he doesnât know why and nothing will keep him from tearing up the country trying get his way.
âSen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has been vocal in private and public about his hatred of shutdowns and ardent desire to avoid another one.â
What a bunch of bullâŚif McConnell âhatedâ shutdowns, he could have brought the clean CR to the floor and held the vote. If it didnât pass he could rail all he wanted at those that voted against it, or railed against those that wouldnât vote to override the expected veto.
Instead the âhatedâ shut down was his for allowing it to continue which should be shouted out again and again and again
Dear Mitch,
America wishes you had voiced opposition to the FIRST shutdown. Or at least ended it a lot sooner.
Your not doing either pushed your GOP colleagues into a corner.
This is why Trump is tweeting obsessively on this. He knows the GOP is too weak to do another shutdown. Trump is a wimp. Someone else always has to fight his battles for him. Heâs struggling with the prospect of abject failure. I think heâd just keep lying like he always has, but he feels heâll be at a âthrill is goneâ point (hat tip to BB King) and that it would be fatal to his candidacy. He feels itâs that important.
