Discussion: McConnell Promises Kavanaugh Vote 'In The Near Future,' Dismisses 'Smear Campaign'

The Ctte vote was supposed to happen today. But it didn’t. And “in the near future” may never arrive. . .

The “New Low” was your refusal to consider Merrick Garland. Or maybe it is that you are shoving a terribly flawed and partisan candidate down our throats. Regardless, Mr. McConnell, you can go f**k yourself.

Funny watching a turtle play chicken, and losing badly…

"On the Senate floor, this fine nominee to the Supreme Court will receive a vote in this Senate in the near future.”

If evangelicals think “something that allegedly happened 35 years ago is completely irrelevant today”…

Then they really just need to SHUT THE HELL UP about anything that allegedly happened 2,000 years ago.

He added, “We will not allow them to corroborate or substantiate their accusations by calling other witnesses. We’re just going through the motions right now because…democracy? I forget, really.”

It’ll be interesting to see if a couple of Republican Senators will nut up and vote against him… or, you know, read the tea leaves and decide they don’t want to be plastered with the label: “Put a sex offender on the Supreme Court”

Well, then this is it – this is the watershed moment for the women of this county to stand up and shout that the GOP does not have their consent to put this man on the Supreme Court.

McConnell basically means “we will only accept smear campaigns that we initiate.”

Or refusing to work with Obama Admin to warn Americans that Russians were hacking the election.

At this point if they get him at all it will be at tremendous cost. What does it take for Flake and Corker to shake loose? Come on Collins, make some history…

Here’s the deal. Mitch was quoting from the NYT “attack” on Ramirez.

Remnick is New Yorker editor.

Some believe that the NYT is all in with Trump. I don’t. It’s more basic and hubristic than that. The NYT believes that it is God’s gift to journalism and that all major scoops and stories belong to them and they have the right of first refusal. And they get all huffy, when they either get scooped or some other news outlet picks up a major story because NYT was too shortsighted to follow up.

I understand that some folks are really fond of NYT. But Lusztig’s is fair criticism. And remember NYT got rid of their public editor.

The Republican equivalent of a show trial. Get a female Republican inquisitor to keep your hands clean, brow beat the female witness, ignore the testimony - she had her say, then go ahead and vote the way you were going to anyway.

This is so stupid for the GOP to take this position. Do they really want someone with a history of multiple sexual assaults to be the one to overture Roe v Wade? The decision is going to be controversial enough. Why further taint it with a flawed Justice like Kavanaugh? Additionally Kavanaugh could server for 30 years or more; three decades to remind everyone that the GOP is the party of Roy Moore and Donald Trump.
