If Trump manages to do this we’ll all find out just exactly how much the country wants this dumb wall, and I don’t think the popularity scales will tip in Trump’s favor. He’s an asshole if he shuts the government down, and that’s of course why he very well may do it.
I hope he does. No one comes through that politically intact, and we’ll win the Senate for it in 2020. And maybe it will finally push Trump’s ratings down into the 20s where they belong. Or no. They belong at zero, but we have too many Trump adoring nutcases for that.
He’s the embodiment of Plan B, in case Trump melts down completely and resigns or is impeached/removed before 2020. The R’s need to remind everyone in clear visual terms, about Plan B sitting right there in the room. It helps calm the nerves, I guess.
And by “smooth ending” he means breaking every rule and norm necessary to get exactly what he and his donors and his oligarch Chinese father-in-law want, America Last.

Yes. One of Anthony Bourdain’s last shows was filmed in West Texas. None of the people he talked to wanted the wall- there’s too much cross border “life” that a wall will put an end to or make very complicated at best.
