Discussion: McConnell Concedes Trump 'Doesn't Know A Lot About The Issues'

“He needs someone highly experienced and very knowledgeable because it’s pretty obvious he doesn’t know a lot about the issues,”

That he can sit there and smugly say something like this is mind-blowing.

Never gonna happen. Trump only stays at Trump hotels, and he doesn’t even like doing that, preferring to fly back to Trump Towers or Mar Lago every night.

So they can’t even rely on the comically funny commercial logic to save them. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just means that Trump " fits right in " —

With both the the other candidates and voters!

Yeah, I do. That would have been the uncoordinated, fat kid that my gang of miscreants always put out in right field, where balls were seldom hit, Foureyes McFatWattle.[1]

[1] Actually this is semi-autobiographical; excepting the bit about the wattle.

Shorter Turtle: Damnit Trump! Why can’t you fake it better?

I never thought I’d miss the GWB GOP nominees of this world. He knew nothing about half the issues half the time, though misspoke about all things most of the time.

if you say so.

I just realized that Mitch McConnell is deliberately sandbagging Donald Trump. I don’t know why I didn’t see it before.

Consider:

  1. Mitch McConnell has been around a long time, and is not the sort to speak out of turn. He was one of the original architects of the Talking Points Memo. Not THIS talking points memo, the Republican, everybody-say-the-same-stupid-shit one. “Say THIS when asked about THAT.”

  2. Republicans speak in code. Always Dog-whistle politics. “I’m not upset about having a black man in the White House, I’m just upset that our country has been taken away from us. It doesn’t represent us anymore.” Right now, McConnell’s dogwhistle is: “Trump is dangerously unfit for the presidency. He doesn’t understand the issues and has no interest in learning them. He’s going to have to fake his way through it. He’s an unrepentant racist, and he’s going to have to fake his way through that too. Tone it down.”

He’s feeding into the narrative that Rubio started and Hillary hammered home last week: “The man is temperamentally unfit for the presidency.” He’s just doing it Republican-style: Never actually say it, simply suggest it.

I don’t know what it means, but that’s what it looks like.

Best post ever and I love your red state welfare queen. Succinct and spot on.

So basically McConnell is saying that Trump fits right in…ignorance is bliss when it comes to Republicans. It is their #1 party pre-requisite.

The less the party members and the American people know, the easier it is for the billionaires to rule!

I’ll second that. Nobody at that level just says things to make pleasant conversation. I can’t say for sure what he’s driving at either, but my guess is they’re trying to save their majorities by giving everyone permission not to vote for The Donald. You can split your ticket, leave the top bit blank, whatever option you prefer. Just vote for your good old downballot GOP candidates like always and we’ll avoid a comprehensive rout and debacle.

But he’ll still support him. Cowardly terrapin.

Doesn’t matter when the answer is always “no”.

Let’s see, you, Sen. McConnell, are supporting a candidate for President of the United States who knows basically nothing about issues or governance and your hope is that he can read prepared remarks well enough to get elected. This same man is mentally unsound, uncontrollable and impulsive, but he will hand you the Supreme Court and so it’s worth it. We need a new group of words to describe you pal, cynical, diabolical, etc. just aren’t adequate to do the job. Your Dorian Gray portrait would produce retching.

Sometimes, it’s kind of hard for people like me to figure out who is the meaner, uglier, less intelligent rich white man: T-rump or Turtleface.

T-rump might just be as poor as McConnell, who is worth only a few dozen million, most of which was earned by the power and inflence of his name, or just by ripping off other people in real estate and other investment scams.

No shit. Especially since McConnell’s prescribed solution, having someone knowledgeable and experienced to advise Trump doesn’t effing work with Trump.

There is nothing in Trumps biography to suggest that he will admit his weaknesses and let someone else tell him what he should do.

Just say the words, McC:

Trump is not qualified to be President

Sometimes it’s just so absurd that you have no choice but to laugh at it…because the only other choice would be to weep uncontrollably haha

When the GOP was “preparing” The Wasilla Hillbilly for her debate, numerous sources reported that GrandPa McCain’s staff members were given a revelation they could hardly handle. They were in full panic mode. One aid reportedly said: " (Hands on top of head) She doesn’t know a goddamned thing about social, domestic or international issues and she doesn’t want to learn. She’s the most stupid human I’ve ever had to deal with."

Imagine trying to prepare 70-year-old Trump for his first debate! It will be a thousand times worse.

Oooo…to be a fly on the wall when someone ‘tries’ to instruct him in even the basics of domestic and foreign policy. It will be epic. The numbers for that first debate with Sec. Clinton will be greater than any offering on TV, even the Olympics.

It just occurred to me that EVERY GOPPER candidate for every U.S. office of government should be demanded by the Democrats to articulate Trump’s policy positions.

  • They change daily
  • They are often at odds with GOPPER orthodoxy
  • Trump confides in no one
  • They lack insight, substance or necessary research for background
  • They display ignorance of government and separation of powers

See what they do. Hammer every House candidate, every gubernatorical candidate. Every U.S. Senate candidate. Every state legislature candidate.

Hammer every MSM whore
Hammer every FOX whore
Hammer every Talk Radio whore
