Wow! Maybe mitch and the GOP aren’t so bad after all. Turns out he wants to work with dems! And they in turn must except this return to regular order or risk the wrath of the voters. Everyone knows that if you don’t play nice, you suffer come election time. Just look at the GOP. They’ve always put compromise and bipartisanship above all else, and the electorate rewarded them for it by giving the government to them.
If Schumer has any balls or even a semblance of them he should say"Here is what we are willing to work with you on: NOTHING. Now go enjoy the kneepads that Trump has given you as a Christmas gift."
“I don’t think most of our Democratic colleagues want to do nothing,” [Sen. Mitch McConnell] told reporters.
Democratic Democrat colleagues
Stick to the script.
He’s scared.
I think so too.
And conveniently omitted the previous, “pretty partisan” 8 years and the theft of Merrick Garland’s Supreme Court Nomination. FUCK YOU MCCONNELL.
Mitch, The Democrats are not as gullible and stupid as Susan Collins. So good luck with that bipartisan thingy. And, by the way, you suck - as the President* requires. I was almost embarrassed for you during the all Republican group BJ for the president*, after your Republican fellate the super rich tax bill “passed”. Almost. I did notice Paul Ryan did a better job than you did. I suggest you practice your technique over the holiday.
Merry Christmas, asshole.
The abusive father/husband promising to change.
It’ been a pretty partisan nine years, culminating with McConnell stealing a Supreme Court seat. If the founders had any idea that any Congress would even think about doing that it would have had a time requirement in the consent phase.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA…
Pull the other one, Mitchell.
The dems every action should be directed towards 2018 elections. I don’t think bi-partenshipo is the way to go. People not paying attention will think the dems were part of this years actions. No need to play nice. The dems base will be very disheartened.
I for one am really excited to hear that republicans are going to work with Democrats to institute single payer health care, a $15 minimum wage, reduce economic inequality, name qualified judges, and investigate Russian interference with our elections…
I would like to “like” this more than once, especially the FUCK YOU part.
Fuck you McConnell. If I found McConnell laying on the sidewalk, I’d kick him in the face and keep walking.
He’s seen the polls and views bipartisanship as the only way to wash off the stench or at least rub some of it on Dems.
Ding ding ding… this is exactly right. If the GOP was headed for a wave election in its favor, McConnell wouldn’t be breathing one word about “bipartisanship”—he’d be no mercy, balls to the wall, all-out aggression against Democrats.
But Mitch can read the polls, and he fears the wave will be headed in the other direction, and he knows it’s because a solid majority of the public blames the Republicans because they’ve got unified control. He figures if he can sucker the Dems into “cooperating” with the GOP on signature legislation, he can start slopping some of the blame onto the Dems once the election season gets going in earnest late in the summer. “Hey, don’t blame us for everything, those Democrats signed onto things too!” He also knows that if the Dems don’t bite on his bullshit game, he’ll be able to bamboozle the New York Times into publishing article after article bemoaning the Dem’s intransigence. Needless to say, Fox et all will already be beating the “Dems refuse to engage in good-faith bipartisan negotiations to help crippled orphans so dear to Republican hearts.”
All of which means in turn that it’s absolutely imperative Democrats immediately start a concerted, organized, coordinated, cohesive, consistent, and above all loud messaging campaign highlighting exactly how thoroughly contemptuous the Republican majority has been of John McCain’s precious “regular order” in Congress.
It would help the Democratic messaging tremendously if they designated specific members of Congress to lead the attack on different issues. Have Warren address Wall Street related stuff. Sherrod Brown for manufacturing and organized labor. Gillibrand for women’s rights. Ted Lieu or Schumer for international trade. Mark Warner for defense and military. Have a division of labor on messaging instead of random Dems popping up with uncoordinated comments at random moments. It would also help counter the problem that there is no single leader of the party right now; instead of having a disorganized bunch of foot soldiers, designate some generals.
I was going to add my warmest felicitations, which rhymed with Yuck Foo! But I see my compatriots have me covered. Glad the team is united…
McConnell poisoned the well. Now he wants Dems to help? No Dem should do anything to help him or Trump.
A couple quotes from the Mr. Can’t We All just be friends McConnell
McConnell: The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.
“One of my proudest moments was when I looked at Barack Obama in the eye and I said, ‘Mr. President, you will not fill this Supreme Court vacancy,
Just needed to repeat it.
Hell yeah.
He’s right. It was a very partisan year. So when the tax bill blows up and people get thrown off their healthcare insurance or find it un affordable, blame Mitch.
When climate change causes further damage, when infrastructure collapses, when we can no longer help our own citizens recover from disasters, blame Mitch.
