Discussion: McCain Urges Unity Around Trump, Says It's 'Foolish To Ignore' Voters

McCain warned that leaders in his party who have been hesitant or all-out resistant to Trump were “out of step.”

“You have to draw the conclusion that there is some distance, if not a disconnect, between party leaders and members of Congress and the many voters who have selected Donald Trump to be the nominee of the party,” McCain said in the interview.

So I guess that Trump will be campaigning with him in Arizona, right? After all, its the custom for US senators to welcome their party’s presidential help or else they could lose badly at the polls.

right John?

Dear Sen. Johnny Mac - It’s never foolish to ignore stupidity.

John have you no shame? Or did anything resembling a moral compass go out the window the minute you picked Sarah as your running mate?

rudesan: And if the win an election, even when losing the popular vote, they consider it a mandate. Yet, when they lose, their Malaprop logic won’t allow them to support the Democrat who wins.

isn’t that the truth? the obama wins by 10m and 5m didn’t seem to register in their brains. it’s a congenital synapse issue.

(i like the Malaprop logic reference).

OLD FOOL says “It’s ‘Foolish To Ignore’ Voters”
With all due respect - considering - over the course of his life - the bar fights, the car crashes, the plane crashes the infinite number of blows to the head as a POW - McCain probably has as much Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) as the worst cases in the NFL.

Remember this is the guy who still defends his pick of Sarah Palin. Captain Green Room might be the darling of the Mark Halperins and other MSM types of the world but we don’t have to be that stupid.

Dear Senator McCain, I understand how difficult it was to be a P.O.W. Since you appear to be in the same dire situation again, did anyone tell you that you appear to be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome? I’m pretty sure you are.

“Dying breed” indeed. Yesterday’s Gallup poll had Hillary behind just one point… in Georgia. If Trump only barely takes Georgia he would lose every swing state including Missouri, AZ and possibly one or two non Deep South states. He may win even fewer than the six states Goldwater won in 1964.

“You have to draw the conclusion that there is some distance, if not a disconnect, between party leaders and members of Congress and the many voters who have selected Donald Trump to be the nominee of the party,” McCain said in the interview.

What’s really remarkable is that even though there is a disconnect between Trump and the GOP Congress, they are equally terrible.

TPM needs a new thread…“most lame reasons to support Trump”

The voters also elected Barack Obama to be President, whose duties include nominating Supreme Court Justices. Why won’t the GOP Senators respect the will of the voters and give Justice Garland an hearing and vote?

This is the guy Trump said was not a hero. Shows once again that McCain’s campaign slogan, Country First, was utter bullshit. That he could embrace Trump after the insane and dumb stuff he’s said proves it even more.

Chalk this up to Neocon regret. McCain: we bet on the wrong horse again, but still might be able to get a piece of the action. There is no part of bomb, bomb, bomb I do not like.

Sorry Gramps, but Trump himself sees no reason to unify the GOP behind him. So, … he himself is saying: he doesn’t need GOP voters, thank you very much. Now, after something like that in a normal election the candidate would have committed political suicide. But, as we have repeatedly seen it makes no difference whatever to his minions. to rectify this situation will require an electoral smack down of biblical proportions I think (and fervently hope for).

First he "gifts’ the country with Palin and now this. So, like forgiving the Bushes for the “out of wedlock black child” during the NC primary in 2000, now he’s apparently forgiven Trump for disparaging his time as a POW. What a loser.

Wasn’t he saying just last week that Trump could hurt his chances?

And this can never, ever be said enough:
